Without the various dietary restrictions or the lack therof we might live in a world sans Beef Hotdogs, Pork Tenderlion, Shishkabobs, Potato and Cauliflower Marsala and Chicken Breast Sandwiches.
Thank you various deities and religious traditions for some of the most delicious meals we have on Earth today!

Defiance of kosher law bought us the cheeseburger, beef enchilada etc. etc.: otherwise we'd still have to keep meat and dairy products seperated.
An edible cadaver is a terrible thing to waste.

This thread was actually inspired by a cooking segment I saw this morning on an Indian dish - featuring BEEF! The woman who was demonstrating the recipie said that was because it was from a more Muslim area of India.
