I was in Vegas and went to see Copperfield, mostly because no one else was playing and I have seen Penn and teller twice before. He did a gag where he has a girl that has not seen her father for years, come up and he and her vanish to an island where he picks up sand from the beach and she runs in the water. I think even though it looks fair it is a green screen back stage with good lighting and maybe a bit of real water to run in blended with the green screen. Does any one know if this is how it is done?

No. Revealing secrets of a professional magican and Copperfield in particular is a big no no. :(

The top of the page specifically says not to reveal secrets.

The answer to your question WITHOUT BREAKING THE RULES is:

Yes, some people do know if that is how it's done.

Having seen Copperfield present this trick in his show, I thought that this along with the rest of his show was pretty poor. As a person he is a lot more likeable in his live show than he ever is when on the TV though.

For a the BEST magical experience in Vegas Lance Burton is the main man.
For Way out Magic of course Penn & Teller.
For the funniest show it's Amazing Johnathan.

If you're going to list the best, the way out and the funniest I think you have to find a way to fit Mac King in there somewhere.

Yes I Agree... I would put him in the "Best show you could take your grandmother to see without offending her in any way whatsoever".... What a funny and clever guy. 100% enjoyed him.
