What should the newbie know to achieve maximum TAMification?
Would I be missing something utterly great if I went out to a show Saturday night (Cirque de Soleil), or is a going out into Vegas typically part of the fun?
I’m really looking forward to this. I’ll be coming from Seattle and as of today don’t know anyone who’s coming from here, though I’m sure there are many.
Suggestions, warnings, ridiculous comments are welcome.

Hi Dang,
You might want to see if other JREFers want to go with you. That way you'd get the best of both worlds. Jamy Ian Swiss's performance is Saturday night. I don't know how that schedule messes or conflicts with Cirque.

Hello Dang,
And welcome to the Forum. The problem is that it's not easy to be in two places at once...in fact it's something I have yet to accomplish. So some tough decisions will have to be made. At TAM 4 I went with a fellow JREFer to the Lance Burton show and thus forefeited the Forum get-to-gether. Burton was OK, and I'm glad I got to see him, but in retrospect I think I might have had more fun at the Forum event. On the other hand, Cirque de Soleil IS pretty impressive. Watch this part of the Forum and see what sort of things folks are planning each evening and decide accordingly.

Try planning your Vegas shows for nights before or after TAM is done, that way you won't miss the forum fun or the wonderful performances of the magicians at TAM. I saw Jamy Ian Swiss last year and have booked his show again this year, I wouldn't miss it.

The Forum Party has traditionally been held on Saturday night. I would advise against missing it.

Thanks for the advice. When people recommend a Forum party over a troupe of world-renowned acrobats and dancers doing amazing feats, etc., then I know it's got to be a good party.
Maybe I could squeeze another day off from work and see the Cirque on Sunday.
Woo hoo!

But Dang, you do know a couple people who will be there...

Dang, check out the show times. If they have an early show (say, 7-9PM) you could attend that and still be back for most of the Forum Party (all the chocolate may be gone but rebecca probably won't be in the hot tub yet..)
Late shows would probably mean getting back about 11pm, so the party would have only 3-4 hours left to it...
Or so I have heard.

TAM can be tricky. Sometimes you have to choose between seeing Vegas and seeing the skeptics. Choose wisely.
I personally find the people more interesting that the city.

Depending on where you live, Cirque might come to your hometown anyway. But where else will you find 800 skeptics?

We didn't really leave the hotel for 3 days and nights, personally I found the allure of the bar and the skeptics more appealing than the bright lights of Vegas, but we had a couple of nights either side of the conference to squeeze stuff in (yes, we saw Tom Jones. Yes, he was ace. Shut up).
The forum party is not to be missed!
