CHAOS! Will the Chocolate Challenge take place before the forum party? I'm thinking that Port wine goes great with chocolate. Just sayin'.

And, oh, it's about time I told you all, folks. It's an idea I had and that all skepchicks loved it! But only some will agree to do it. Kittynh is the official photographer.

SKEPCHICKS WILL FLASH THEIR BOOBS AT THE FORUM PARTY

(where's that lovely blink tag when we most need it?)

We're yet to agree if that will happen at random times or all at once. Regardless, there will be plenty of cleavage. :fg:

I'm serious here, and other skepchicks can confirm they will...

FLASH THEIR BOOBS AT TAM

***If you're a skepchick and you're going to TAM, and if I haven't PMed you yet, please PM me fast, I have news for you!!!*** So far I'm acting based on Hutch's list. I'll tell you what, I'm so proud of my persuasion skills. :D

By flashing, I'm guessing you mean something other than "removing all layers of clothing covering a particular body part".

And by boobs, I'm guessing you don't mean female breasteses.

Lemme guess...by flashing boobs you mean close up flash photography of Dylan Avery and the rest of the CTists?

TobiasTheViking

i think they mean flashing me. i'm a boob.. and a poopie-head, though i guess that is unrelated.

Port! I think that bringing a bottle on the luggage is counterproductive, so maybe on Saturday someone could go around collecting bucks and some volunteer with wheels goes out to buy it? Chocolate and Port wine are perfect combination. I'm astounded no one has thought of this before.

CFLarsen, we are scheduled for a drink during TAM. (I can find the post if I look around long enough).

We were discussing Scotch. But, I think I will bring my favorite port, instead (a 60 year tawny). Or maybe a '77 Fonseca, if I can find one.

True. That is what we were discussing. To avoid future confusion, when I say 'Scotch' I mean 'Single Malt' (unless otherwise specified).

And I still will be bringing that. My 'to bring' booze list is getting somewhat extensive. But, we are driving, so it shouldn't be an issue.

To a place that JREF rented, and nobody from JREF complained, until long after? I find that very hard to believe.

But I'll go along with that: If not JREF, who, then?

Why is this even of concern?

Today in Florida, someone could have rented some power tools and charged them to the JREF account at the Home Depot. Are you equally concerned about that?

We all know the real reason for your "concern".

It isn't inordinate, and I do think I have a valid reason to raise the point if it can cause JREF to get expenses it hadn't planned on. I care about JREF, I support JREF in many ways - why shouldn't that be my "business"?

In the past, we just hooked up someone's personal cd player. And, if the JREF was going to be charged for it, I certainly would have rounded up the funds from everyone at the party.

As it is, I usually end up cleaning the place while the party is going on (picking up paper, plastic cups, etc) just to ensure that the JREF would not come out looking like they trashed the place.

You know, I have no idea how the hotel people know someone from JREF is asking for something, to be billed to the organisation, and not just someone pretending to be them. I figure it's going to take more than simply picking up the room phone and calling the front desk. I assume the JREF (i.e. Linda?) gets some kind of means to identify themselves as being the JREF and not one of the people walking around in the room (like a card with a code or number or something)?
In fact, can you even bill something to a hospitality suite anyway? Or maybe you need a roomkey to charge it to a specific room.

Fair enough. And, I would think that since you had never organized this before that the organizers would have thought about that. ;)

I have organized similar events before, which is one of the reasons why I am so alert to expenses. Hotels and venue owners can be very quick to pile the small (and not so small) expenses on you, in the hope that you won't notice.

I mean: How many have not stood at the desk, checking out, and found that they had to pay for something they thought was free?

No. That was the hotel staff that told me. But, since the equipment never showed up in the past, it was never an issue.

I think you should nevertheless have checked with JREF. Just to be on the safe side. It doesn't hurt to be cautious, especially when it comes to JREF. Let's not forget that every dollar counts - JREF is a shoestring operation, and we should do our utmost to be careful with spending.

Let's also not forget that TAM is very much a fund-raising event for JREF. It wouldn't look good on forum members, if it turned out that JREF later had to pay for something that a member had ordered (in good faith, but the bill still has to be paid) for the JREF Forum Party, without the consent of JREF. Sure, it's easy to send the hat around, but I think it is better to avoid those embarrassing situations, if possible.

It's quite alright. People don't think about cleaning up after themselves while they are having a good time. But, if you are volunteering to help, then I accept. :D

No, it's not alright. TAM is very much about skeptics helping each other. We have people driving to the airport to pick up attendees. We have people organizing events, dinners, and all other sorts of things. There should be a clean-up "posse", where people sign up in advance, like they sign up for other tasks.

I had Jami Ian Swiss introduce himself to me at the TAM3 party. It felt a bit odd since I'd attended TAM and TAM2 so I felt like I knew him already.

AH, attendence by non-JREFers and Forumites adds to the flavor of the party, which alread is a spicy, choclatey affair to begin with.

I've been reading this thread and I am seriously concerned (as is my mummy) that my virtue may be in danger at this event, not to mention my waistline.
Chocolate?
Port?
Single Malt?
FLASHING BOOBIES??? They allow seabirds in the hotel?

It all sounds rather...unsceptical.

I think you about 9400 posts past helping. Might as well relax and enjoy, now.

It all sounds rather...unsceptical.Unscekptical? We are going to look at the evidence of the chocolate, port, single malt, and especially the flashing boobies. I may insist on comparing them with non-flashing boobies, just to verify that they are indeed flashing. :D

It's all about the evidence.

I take it as given that I can recognize the difference between flashing and non flashing, on sight. I would insist on comparing the various brands of flashing, one to another..... for reasons I can't yet articulate. But, I have a couple months to work on that line.

Scotth, please leave the serious research to us single skepdudes. We'll steal your best lines, but please don't interfere. ;)

I don't get to use my own lines even once before they are (mis)appropriated?

Well, be careful..... or you might wind up not being a single skeptdude anymore.

Where are we going to hold the JREF Forum Party? Jeff Wagg says there is no hospitality suite.

I've got the forum party under control. Like I said earlier, I've been working on it the past month with Jeff and I think we've got something that's doable. Hold for details.

When you have something, let me know. (http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=67682)

It's OK if it changes later on.

Will good old Murray, the Quarkfather himself, be at the party? He looks like a man who's fun to be around!

Look out for flash-burns I'd say ...

Hey Im over 18, I can sleep with anyone I want...That's amazing! I'm three decades past 18, and I still can't sleep with anyone I want. :(

In fact, can you even bill something to a hospitality suite anyway? Or maybe you need a roomkey to charge it to a specific room.I first read that as "monkey."

Yeah, after the party are we going back to your room or mine? :p :oJust remember: if either of you charges for this, it can't be charged to the JREF.

On a serious note - is there an attendance policy? Are non-forum member (non-JRef member I'm afraid) spouses allowed to attend if accompanied by JRef forum members?Yes, they can attend the party, but not the "official" TAM events.

Yes, they can attend the party, but not the "official" TAM events.

Unless they registered.
