PA Sen. Santorum tells Philly paper that the reason the U.S. has not been attacked a'la 9/11 in the last couple of years is, essentially, because the "eye of Mordor" is on Iraq...meaning that the focus of evil is there so not able to reach us here. I hope the Administration is using a more useful model for its planning....

Duh, I see the problem, we should be attacking the Eye of Mordor!

A news item that hasn't gotten much play concerns the captured Al Qaeda computer from, I believe, Amsterdam. This was some time ago, and among the intelligence tidbits was that Al Qaeda did not feel it was operationally expedient to attack the US directly at this time. Rather, it was felt that attacking the "coalition of the willing" was a better idea, to erode support for Iraq.
This was prior to the bombings in Spain....

Geez. It's Sauron's Eye! No wonder Santorum is losing his seat. How can he expect to win the elfin vote is he can't even properly identify their foes...
By the way, Santorum is an acronym for Saurontm. Coincidence? I think not!

"We hates the Eye, precious! Burns us it does."
Parts of Iraq (and much of the Arabian peninsula) looks a lot like the charred wasteland that is Mordor. The metaphor is apt, but there is no magic ring to drop into the volcano. There are no eagles to bring the hobbits home.

In case some don't know, Santorum was made the official name of the material combination left after beckdoor adventuring (there was a competition 2 or 3 years ago through a column that appears in a lot of bigger city tabloid counter-newspapers - called Savage Love if memory serves).:D :jaw-dropp :D

Sorry, HA, the Mk III Mod 2 Hobbit Carrying Pod, attachable to the TER at the F-15's fuselage stores stations, was approved but NOT funded in the last budget go round. Budget cuts, sorry. Also, the AN/ASH-225B Claw Attachment to the F-15's main landing gear, that could reach out and grasp hobbits for internal carriage, also fell to the budgeteer's axe. The mod to the LOX system that prevented Hobbit Hypoxia in the Wheel well above 10,000 ' was another victim of fiscal austerity.

What ever happened to the Hobbit Cluster Device?

What ever happened to the Hobbit Cluster Device?
The parachutes failed in the ODT & E phase, resulting in a lot of splattered Test Hobbits at Edwards Air Force Base. A sordid tale.
Speaking of sordid tales, the other Hobbit Cluster____ was removed from the movie to avoid an NC-17 rating, to the chagrin of pervie hobbit fanciers the world over. Are you familiar with Cassandra Claire's "very secret diaries (http://www.ealasaid.com/misc/vsd/)" series on the LOTR films? RUmor has it that the strawberry bubblebath ordered for the Hobbit Cluster wasn't delivered to the movie set, and that Orlando Bloom has it stashed somewhere on the set of Pirates of the Caribbean III.

Ah, but have you forgotton that the cockpit can secure hobbits? This one is an AlphaJet, not a F-15 Strike Eagle, but I think it's sufficient proof of concept: http://home.tiscali.nl/marconop/uscalls.htm

All I got there was a typed list of call signs. Is that what you meant to link to? The problem of the intransit insertion extraction of a hobbit is the air speed limits of cockpit opening for an F-15. Well below stall speed. :( LIkewise for an alpha jet. The first two field trials didn't go too well.
Ever try to fly a jet as a convertible? A German friend of mine did so in an F-104, years ago, and he promises that it is no fun.
Nicht viel spass.

That was the intended link. You'll see that flying an AlphaJet is "Hobbit".
Are you saying Iraq has no airfields where we can land to pick up a hijacking Hobbit?

I've read several Republican commentators who defend their policy on torture by citing 24. And now, Lord of the Rings to explain their policy in Iraq!
I hope this trend continues. The thought that xXx: State of the Union (starring Ice Cube) could be used to explain campaign finance reform gets me all hot.
