View Full Version : TAM5 Skepchick PJ Party!

Girl 6
18th October 2006, 10:12 AM
Hi Everyone,

It looks to me that no one has stepped up to organize the Skepchick PJ Party for TAM 5. If I'm wrong, let me know.

Anyway, if that is the case, then I think this must be resolved. I volunteer!

We should probably have it on Friday night. It usually doesn't start until 10 pm.

We will need the security squad, as usual. ;)

yes, and grannie flannel nighties ok also.

But to keep security happy we have to have some sexy Victoria Secret stuff.

Phil likes to wear that stuff.

Yes, elaine, it's been a tradition since TAM2. Girls only, of course. Boys keep trying to break in, so we hire bodyguards (never short of volunteers, see) to keep the other boys outside.

The dirty little secret about CPR that they don't usually tell you in class, is that most revived people throw up, sometimes before they're actually revived. As a friend of mine who received 'Breath of Life" awards twice says "It takes a real strong stomach"

So don't hold your breath....too long. Unless you're faking it. Then, OK.

I don't think there was enough face time with the security guards last year. I suggest that the first half hour of the PJ party involve face time with in-room security guards. Anyway, it's not right that we don't check the room for possible security violations. Then the guards can move out to the hall and the salacious portion of the evening can commence.

Current CPR card here, FWIW. I was a Security Guard last time. Endless hours in the hallway with Paul, then a door opened, several hands reached out, I was dragged onto a bed, a camera flashed (anyone have that pix?), and I was thrown back out in the hallway once again. Can't remember a thing beyond this, but I am sure it was my TAM4 highlight.

I need a Skepchick volunteer.

Long story short, at the Poker Tournament this year, the Riviera is unable to help us out in our usual $10 a person collection for the JRef. Something about gaming regulations.

We need an enthusiastic, persuasive skepchick to attend the poker tournament (as a non-player) to collect the recommended $10 donation to the JRef from each player. They need to be stealthy, as we don't want to interrupt the play of the hands, but also wish to ensure we collect something for the JRef as part of the event.

Your time commitment would be 1730 on Thursday the 18th, for about 30 minutes max.

Volunteers?

Pity I'm not going, 'cause I have a real money-making idea: SkepChicks Gone Wild, a video documentary of the TAM 5 PJ party, available on DVD. Say, $19.95 per copy, proceeds evenly divided between JREF and SkepChick.org. You know how well the calendars do -- just think what a video would pull in $$$-wise. To make sure the released version is acceptable to all parties involved, I would nominate Rebecca to have the final yea/nay say on editing choices.

But, alas, I won't be there, so I can't volunteer my services (and equipment) as the official PJ Party Videographer. Pity, 'cause I got some really nice equipment.

Volunteers?

Ack, well, I was all gung ho on this, until I realized it would mean not participating in the tournament itself. I guess it should be left to the non-players.

Please put me in backup position - I would love to do, but am not sure how this all works. The last time I was in vegas and was hanging around the craps table, I asked an innocent question - the guy threw craps (as I asked about) and did not pay me a compliment. I was right (statistically speaking). ;)

I have an idea - :eye-poppi
(1) I could wear a t-shirt with a prompt emblazoned across my guns - then I wouldn't have to say anything, that might get me in trouble.
(2) I could give out pre-printed thank you cards, promising something skeptical and that way know who gave & who didn't (as long as they displayed the card, and then I wouldn't bother those who did, and could bring pressure on those who didn't - I CAN give looks!

What do you think? I would of course, supply the guns.

You may a good point. Not one of the applicants have mentioned their price for example. You can't expect to be PJ-party security for free.

Okay, people...

This party looks to be rocking and rolling! My roommate can't make it to TAM. :(

However, this means that the room is larger for you skepchicks! The party will be in my room. I'll be at the registration desk all of Thursday. So, make sure to stop by and introduce yourself and let me know you'll be at the party. I'll let you know where my room is (I have no idea right now). I'll have my iPod and speakers all set up for some background music.

I think we just need ice, cups, napkins, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), snacks (cookies, chips). Someone definitely needs to bring a camera.

I was thinking of baking my world-famous chocolate-chip cookies, but that might be a pain to carry onboard in the plane. If not, I'll get something.

Please let me know what you want to contribute to the party. But more importantly, BE THERE and REPRESENT!

Oh, I did not miss it, I assure you. I commented that the rug matched the drapes, if you recall. I was just trying to drum up some mystery and intrigue--Who was the woman with the camera that got the extreme close up?...and is it of higher quality than the one on Tobias' cell phone pic.?(you know, --the one where it's wearing a sort of "chef's hat" made of a toilet paper roll...it's kind of hard to understand the picture at first...)

But the real mystery, of course, is who made the prototype mold for the chocolate/macaroon party favors? The guy who brought them was a gem--I hear he has a church on his property and he's going to pose in next years skepdude calender on his motorcycle on his altar. That is simply heathenly. Oh it's my fault. I was supposed to do the grope check, but Toby was too eager--and I didn't think it would be polite to grope the person in the Burka, and Scott had chocolate...raspberry chocolate...and Grayman had some very artistic chocolate...and the Friendly Atheist guy pointed out that he WAS chocolate--

And there were the toys...the "perfect man doll"...the life-sized Randi doll (okay it was a little smaller than life size...)

So you see my dilemma. Now that I understand the basic sneakiness of the skepdudes, I promise to do a better job next year. It's really Scott's fault, I think--I just presumed he was there for some official reason, and it didn't feel right to do a grope check on Randi's right hand man--plus his chocolates contained alcohol--and then Toby brought those spermatazoid thingies filled with Baileys cream...

Mistakes were made. What can I say. It won't happen again.
