I still hear persistent cries from Bush about N Koreas nucular weapons program, and how the world should not tolerate that regime with such weapons.

I do not think N Korea has any nucular weapons program that I know of. They may have a nuclear weapons program and they may already have them but not "nucular" weapons, but I never here him speak of those "nuclear weapon". I am sure he in intelligent enough to pronounce them, or is he?

Yes, make fun of a regional dialect. Very amusing. Bush is too stupid to pronounce nuclear, just like Jimmy Carter and my Dad.

Please remind all of those people as often as possible what you think of them. In fact, I urge all opponents of Bush to make as big a deal about this as possible. It's highly probable that Bush's handlers simply haven't realized that he pronounces it that way, even after several election campaigns and years on the national stage.

You mean, it's only some Americans who say "nucular"? Wow, JREF really is educational!

And some Brits and Canadians, according to Merriam-Webster's pronunciation guide:

usage: Though disapproved of by many, pronunciations ending in \-ky&-l&r\ have been found in widespread use among educated speakers including scientists, lawyers, professors, congressmen, U.S. cabinet members, and at least one U.S. president and one vice president. While most common in the U.S., these pronunciations have also been heard from British and Canadian speakers.

Frankly, I keep hearing so many conflicting reports over North Korea's nuclear program that I don't know what to believe. Some reports say they have developed them already, others say they are close, yet others say they they are about to start working on them.

Came across this article, which claims that the Americans are unofficially stating that NK does have nuclear weapons: http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/06/20/1055828474718.html. Is the report accurate? I don't know. (Of course, keep in mind that 'officially' Israel doesn't have nuclear weapons either.)
