Letter fromn Steven Jones wherein he blabbers on about CT talking points. A major yawn-fest that we've all heard before.

The interesting part is in the comments. According to "Georgewashington", Jones has taken early retirement. he claims to have some inside line to Jones.

Has anyone else heard this?

Of course not! We need him alive to help ridicule the truth movement. If he dies, it add fuel to the bs conspiracy theories.

He's toast. (http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=582631)

The Deseret Morning News quotes Steven Jones and BYU, saying they had been working on his retirement package for weeks. The school has abandoned its review of Jones' 9/11 research about the World Trade Center.

Translation: "We came up with a payout that's cheaper than the lawyers."

Thanks for the news, SOT! I was just about to bump this, hoping for an update.
Early retirement, eh? No mention of his already having being put on paid leave, I notice.

Actually, I think the translation would be "We'll let you take early retirement if you agree to go away, and never, ever utter the word "BYU" again."

I am sure he is a nice man, and it is unfortunate that this 9/11 BS swayed him enough to cost him his job (early retirement), but to the crack pots over at 911blogger who think the man should be a senator or president...based on what.

Is the only criteria to be president being a nice guy?

Either works. If they just outright fired him though, you just know lawyers would have gotten involved.

The suspension followed by retirement makes it pretty damn obvious that this is a less than honorable end to his career.

You're quite right, Sword. Jones is obviously disgraced. This way, no lawyers get involved and everyone just walks away from the table.

I wonder how this will affect Jones' twoofing. Without the cachet of the BYU name, he becomes just another guy. He's no longer a BYU physics professor, just a former physics professor. (If I were BYU, I'd insist that he not mention the university in any way as part of the settlement.) It moves him out of the mainstream and firmly into the fringe.

Not that he wasn't there anyway...

I apologize on behalf of my countrymen and -women for Daniele Ganser and the other idiots cited in this article. The worst part is where he translates "pull it" with "blow it up". Sickening.

You know how this will play...

Fetzer: "We have a world renowned Physicist who was forced into retirement because he was getting too close..."

Can anyone say Martyrdom.

Jones: "I sense it is a friendly type of arrangement."

That's what he gets for relying on his senses rather than the evidence. Hey, Steven, when you get pulled from your classes during the semester and kicked out of a job you've held for 21 years, it's not because people like you and your work.

but he is nuts, he had to start his own journal to publish his paper.

his work changed constantly, and to get a peer review he used 9/11 CT movement poets, theologians, and who ever would sign up.

He has learned a bunch about CD.

wonder if his working with thermite has poised him and early Alzheimer has set in from using powered Al while making his thermite demos?

He's a Swiss historian and a liar (or at least intellectually dishonest):

His homepage (english version) (http://danieleganser.ch/e/index.htm)

He also wrote a chapter for 911 and American Empire: Academics Speak Out.
