The Psychic Eye (http://www.pebooks.com/lv2/)

Described here. (http://www.skepticreport.com/psychics/psychiceye.htm)

There are two stores in LV, each only a short drive (6.5 miles) from the Riviera.

I'm going. Who's coming with me? We can SkeptiCrash the place!

At least they use only carefully selected, ethical, professional psychics.

I'd be willing to chip in a few dollars for someone to be "read" by a psychic.

How long before we get asked to leave the store?

I'm trying to build up a nice aura patina. It goes better with the Early American decor in my house.

There's a palm reader next to a very upscale grocer in Houston, near where a friend lives. The billboard sign in the yard (there's no zoning in Houston....) says "Palms Read, Auras Cleansed"

I have some very important questions about this. How does one tell if one's aura is fouled? Does it smell? Do only people trained in detecting auras actual know if it's dirty? I mean, how would I know it's time for a cleansing? Is this an "every 3000 miles" thing, or do you get it cleansed only when you're about to have company over for cocktail weiners and margaritas? What's the difference between a cleansing and a mere cleaning?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Surely there must be a homeopathic aura cleansing solution available?

If not, I'd be happy to whip one up and sell it to you.

Zep, the engineer part of me gets all hot and bothered when I see stuff like that.

How much aura cleansing concentrate should I mix in there to get the proper dilution?

Looks like a teaspoon or so would be overkill.

I volunteer to be read.

rebecca
26th October 2006, 04:36 AM
I volunteer to come in 5 minutes before everyone else and pretend to be a shopping psychic from out of town. As Loon gets read, I'll break in and berate the psychic: "What are you, an idiot? He has a BLUE aura. BLUE. Sir, did you recently crash a bicycle into a lake in Wisconsin?" Loon: "Oh my god, yes!" Me: "See, moron? BLUE."

Won't they get suspicious when they see a busload of people show up and suddenly pretend not to know each other as they enter the building? Oh wait, that happens at John Edward tapings all the time. Never mind.

It's most likely going to be Sunday, right after lunch, after TAM5 is (sniff) over. Is that OK with everyone?

We could do lunch (for some reason, Americans don't "eat" lunch, they "do" lunch) and I'll tell you what I had in mind.

PLEASE test your camera and movie gear BEFORE your skepticrash. No point in doing the raid if you ain't got no great trophy heads to display.

NB. Just a note of disquiet here. If you plan to "alert the media" in some way, remember that LV is a town for which belief in good luck is an absolutely vital part of its business ethic. So their belief in the value of their dollars in the till is a lot stronger than your fleeting 15 seconds of fame. A WHOLE LOT stronger. So if LV police and judges are the best money can buy, remember there's a lot of it about.

CFLarsen
8th January 2007, 05:39 AM
I don't plan to alert the media.

I suspect an article will emerge from somewhere, though... :)

Don't in any way tie it to JREF or TAM. That is Randi's show and you don't need to be pushing your own personal agenda with this stunt.

One of my pet peeves is that word "Intuition" is thrown around a lot. They don't want to admit they can't answer a question and the intuition cloak is thrown about.

I think this quote sums up everything.

"What is a psychic... you tell me. I can't evaluate a psychic in terms of success, hits or misses but only in terms of repeat business. To become a psychic you need to create a buzz, get the right personalities and power brokers as clients…"
That one paragraph says it all!

The funny part about this is the fact that when I lived in Vegas... me and tons of my friends used the 'Eye' all the time as the place to get and purchase all the cool props for our Live Action Vampire Games! LOL!

Now, that alone would be worth the looks from all the people that probably still work there!
