Yes, yes they do and I agree that they are awesome, but sadly Johnny is no more. Kind of amazing that he lived as long as he did, but please don't pretend that he isn't dead. He has rung down the curtain and joined the choir invisible.

Was JC's death a controlled demolition? Proof that it was not?

Was JC's death a controlled demolition? Proof that it was not?Mmmm, the way I heard it, it's more like his life was a controlled demolition.

Yeah, he's good, in an erie way. I'm a very poor singer, and it has always fascinated me that some people that had voices worse than mine could somehow manage to, not only make a carreer as singers, but actually be worth listening to. Like JC, Leonard Cohen, and ... my favorite in this particular context, Lee Marvin :p .

Not to mention Bob Dylan, Hans.

Yeah, kinda forgot him. Most of the Dylan songs I have and listen to are with Joan Baez.

Well, I am neither a CTist nor sane so I guess it is ok for me to say that all of his songs sound the same. Especially the guitar.

Awesome country music performer.

Oh yea. Johnny Cash had a concrete core! I saw it in a 2 hour PBS documentary called "The Construction of Johnny Cash" and was confirmed by two jewish pygmies.

Oh, those brave heart-of-the-truth movement jewish pygmies.

Shuffled off this mortal coil 'e 'as!

He had an interesting and productive life though. His music was sincere.

I listened to some of the clips from his old website. Painful.

Let's see, he's washed up as an, *ahem*, actor and can't sing. What's left for poor ol' Steve? Perhaps reality TV is next?

Johnny Cash is awesome.

I think you're trying to trick us into believing that Cash is still alive.

Might I add that Francis Albert Sinatra was the "Coolest Man on Earth."

He held the title longer than any man in recent history. Other men like Harrison Ford, Sean Connery, Tupac Shakur, and Joe DiMaggio. The title is now held by George Clooney.

You may not have heard of this competition. I'm the only who get's to vote on it, and I rarely announce the current standings.

However, Gravy you are currently #47. That may seem high, but Dylan Avery is #1,295,093,901. Just edging out the guy at the grocery store who asked the clerk, "how many are in the three pack?" So Gravy, you are actually doing very well.

Although I am not a huge fan, his genious is easy to see. Cash was a baritone and his tone is as hard to achieve as say an ultra high singer like Geoff Tate or James Labrie. I think what really stands out though are his poignant and sometimes graphic lyrics, " and I shot a man in reno, just to watch him die." Johnnie was gangster before the genre even existed. He also recognized and appreciated all types of music when the people of country during his time were a bit more close minded.

Mmmm, the way I heard it, it's more like his life was a controlled demolition. Hans

I saw the episode of Pete Seeger's Rainbow Crest with Johnny Cash. At the time, he said later, he was taking 100 amphetamine pills a day. He couldn't sit still, twitchy. And he was loud. His voice sounded loud and aggressive. He was stoned! I remember my brother and I laughing because my brother told me he was hopped up.

I heard that his manager called Pete Seeger and requested he not show that episode again. And Seeger refrained.
