Hey guys, I was wondering if perhaps there already was a semi-comprehensive list of acronyms and shorthand jargon that might help me out when reading some of these threads. I've been able to figure out some of them (LC=Loose Change, CT = Conspiracy theory/theorist, etc,) but others, I'm not having so much luck with. Such as:
OTC = (anti?) Conspiracy Theory / Theorist
IHOP = International House of Pancakes
LIHOP = ??
MIHOP = ??
ETA = Edit (something?)
If there's not already some reference I missed, is there any way we could start one?
Thanks in advance, I'm sure they're all common phrases here and I'll be kicking myself later, but I find it's always best to try to get past your ignorance as soon as possible after you realize it.

LIHOP = Let it happen on purpose
MIHOP = Made it happen on purpose
ETA = Edited to add

OCT- Official Conspiracy Theory (Theorist), used by 9/11 deniers to try and claim that the evidence based conclusions of NIST and the 9/11 commission are equivalent to deluded tossers posting drivel on myspace.
LIHOP= Let It Happen on Purpose, the slightly saner branch of Conspiracy theorists, who believe that Bush was not behind 9/11, but ah detailed knowledge prior to the attacks, but decided to do nothing.
MIHOP= Made It happen On Purpose- the nutty Bush/JOOOS!/ Reptoid CT's
ETA= Edited To Add.
Hope that helps.

OTC => Used by CTists as Original (or Official) Conspiracy Theory to describe the Commission/NIST/FEMA reports. Personally, I tend to use EBC (Evidence Based Conclusion)
LIHOP => Let It Happen On Purpose
MIHOP => Made It Happen On Purpose
ETA => Editted To Add

I thought OTC stood for Original True Conceptualization based on empirical Evidence. Or OTCE, shortened to OTC because of the Cters attention spans being to short.

FBI - Federal Bureau of Investigation, the mob like agency that silences thousands of witnesses by rereading their library books.
CIA - Central Intelligence Agency an intelligence agency that failed to put WMD's in Iraq but invisably put them in the Twin Towers with super military precision
UBL - Usama Bin Laden who financed 9/11
OBL- Usama's twin brother Osama who is often blamed for 9/11 but worjed for the CIA. The reason the gov't has not found OBL is because they are looking for UBL.
NSA - National Security Agency or No Such Agency is the agency listening to my exciting phone calls to my mother on why I am not married.
POTUS - is short for a guy who is more interested in a My Pet Goat than National Security but doubles as a mastermind terrorist.
VPOTUS - Vice President of the United States, a person in an undisclosed location who shoots lawyers while hunting quaill. What is a quaill and how do you spell it?
Lisa Simpson

Quail. Or Quayle if you mean Papa Bush's VPOTUS. The first is a bird. The second, a guy who can't spell potato.
I rather like WYRBW. I think I should start using it in mod boxes. As in "WYRBW? Please keep in mind the Membership Agreement and be civil and polite."

CYGWWPQITO – Can you guess what Wolfgang Pauli quote I'm thinking of?
"I don't mind your thinking slowly; I mind your publishing faster than you think"
"This isn't right, this isn't even wrong"
I'm pretty sure me and Wolfgang would get along great. His name being Wolfgang is also +1 points in my book.

Cheney is evil. Nothing more needs to be said.
That wasn't an official mod box. That's just what I want to post the next time I need to post a "civility warning" mod box.

Thank you for asking this! I'd been too embarassed to ask, myself. ETA was throwing me off, because in my line of work, that has always stood for Estimated Time of Arrival.

...too embarassed to ask...
I was just hoping to learn w/o having to pester people, but since folks have replied with them, I'm going to ask:
SNGOTI? (Yes, I even saw the hint and couldn't untease it)
TANSTAAFL (Yes, I know the old "free lunch" one. Is this just plural?)
Hitting the learning curve at a brisk stride,

Here are a few I have picked up over the years-- Some might apply to this forum, some might not.
PKB Pot calling the Kettle Black
IKYABWAI an "iky" or "pee-wee" = I know you are, but what am I? Used to point out someone using this juvenile tactic. They have pulled a "pee-wee"
PPOSTFU Post Proof Or Shut the F! Up. ( I can see this one being used..respectfully, of course.)
YHBT You Have Been Trolled
HAND Have A Nice Day
HTH Hope That Helps
IIRC If I Recall Correctly
TTFN Ta Ta for Now -- Signing off.
TTT To The Top-- Like this thread was brought back "to the top" of the forum list after being buried on back pages.
IMO In my Opinion-- variations IMHO=In my humble opinion-- IMNSHO=In my not so humble opinion.
Sock sockpuppet, nic-switcher, Sybil troll, or chameleon troll= A poster who changes their username, or has many different usernames in order to say or do things the more reputable, primary username wouldn't say or do. Also to make the main user's argument seem more supported ( by replying to oneself) Or to continue posting once one User account has been banned from a forum.
