Check it out...I think its worth it, just too see what's capable of being produced today.

SFW ...but volume seems awfully high...so you may wanna adjust before viewing ( its a Quicktime vid BTW )

Pretty impressive, although his movements seemed a bit too fluid and slow. Wish there was a larger version so we could see some of the finer detail.

There is a higher def version on the same site...but its a larger file..

I agree..it is impressive...

It was the movement of the eyes, as he moved his head that made it 'unrealistic'...BUT only on a few shots...

Soon...No need for actors...sets...props...cameras...etc..

Mmm... there will always be a need for actors. Because of the voice.

The fluidity of the movements remind me a lot of Shrek.

Facial motion capture was used in that film as well.

When they invent a virtual audience, we're all in trouble...

Don't forget...ATT synth voices are getting more natural sounding everday...But will they (just) lack that human emotion..???

You can't get realistic human movement (yet) without motion capture. Voice is another issue. The best way to get realistic voice is voice capture. Otherwise known as recording somebody talking.

Good afternoon.
Anyone remember the movie "Looker (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082677/plotsummary)"

Yes, and there will be a market for maximum 3-4 computers worldwide. Apart from this, 640 kB RAM ought to be enough for everyone.

Don't confuse the human voice with an invention.

OK go ahead and do it, but it seems dumb.

I do 3d animation every day, and I’m developing a CG “human” training coach for the division of EK that I work for.
I’d have to say if this animator put this kind of quality work into a CG Cleopatra film I’d go.
The time is coming when you’ll have a hard time telling real from not (not there yet)

I've seen better.

It was good but it still looks like a wax figure on clockwork gears. Especially the hands. I don't think real actors are in danger yet.

Maybe 5 or 10yrs ahead....

Interesting to see what this kind of thing evolves into...

Very nice. I don't buy the lipsync though. :(

Really Rockoon! Please provide a link

Even 5 years is pessimistic, with the new real time 3d display cards on the market (real time rendering a up to 90 frames (or more) per second), animators will be able to test and redo and refine the work at amazing speed.
That is the key to doing great CG.
I do agree that human actors shouldn’t worry

The 5 year old "Valentine's Dancer" plug-in for Winamp. (http://www.softpedia.com/progScreenshots/Valentine-Dancer-Winamp-Plugin-Screenshot-4482.html)

They even perfectly modeled her enlarged artificial breasts sliding around under her skin like the blobs they are.

Very impressive animation, but what really strikes me as false is the expression. The mouth moved, oh yes, but the face showed the same wooden expression even during the most passionate part of that monologue.

Still though, the lighting/shading, clarity, artistry, etc., was outstanding.

I'd steer well clear of downloading the "ValentinesDancer"...

It was crammed so full of spyware /adware / malware it ain't real...and i doubt if its changed.
