Saw it and loved it. It wasn't quite as brutal as I would've wanted, but it spelled out the premise loud and clear.
Scientology is tantamount to mind control; they (as you all know) believe they used to be aliens and worship L. Ron; they want money; they hate psychiatry with a demented passion; and, finally, if the kid in question (Jeremy Perkins) had gotten real help for his mental illness, he might not have killed his mother. However, the episode leaves no doubt that Scientology, which Jeremy was born into, offered absolutely no benefits at all and kept him from getting proper treatment.
My favortie part was the CCHR representative demonizing psychiatry while showing off her super-bad Scientology stare. "48 Hours" also showed some anti-psychiatry propaganda from within the "Church;" absolutely hil-ah-rious.
Now maybe Showtime will grow some stones and let Penn and Teller loose on the Hubbardites...

The show will no doubt be made available at XenuTV.com in a couple of days. I know Mark Bunker who produces XenuTV when he and I did volunteer work for the Lisa McPherson Trust in Clearwater. Mark is very quick about gathering any and all media coverage about $cientology onto his site.
I thought the program was very fair and balanced, allowing the Scienos free face time to make perfect fools of themselves. The show didn't necessarily "attack" anyone, but just laid all the cards out for all to see the obvious. Well done.

Scientology is tantamount to mind control; You mean just like any other religion?

At least proper religions come with pretty architecture and nice songs, sometimes. Scientology's gifts to the world are the movie Battlefield Earth and the creepy aspects of Tom Cruise's marriage. I'll take a minaret, a stained glass window, and a dreidel over that any day.

My second response was, yeah, what contributions if any have Scientology given society? My avatar thinks Scientology has provided a functional substance abuse treatment program but even that is arguable. Hell, at least Mormonism gave us Donny and Marie Osmond. :boggled: Uhhh.... well, they have a fine Tabernacle Choir. :D

Philo Farnsworth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philo_Taylor_Farnsworth), inventor of the television. The U of U (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Utah) (no longer church owned) for it's contributions to health care and computer science. I could probably go on it I felt it worthwhile.

I was kidding Zygar but it is worthy to note that the Mormon church has actually contributed to society in many ways.
ETA: I'm still on church records so in a way they include me so I expect some credit for the good things the church has done.

I kinda figured. I just hate that the Osmond family and polygamy are all people think of when they find out I'm from Utah. I guess I still get a little defensive about it.

Yes, indeed he did, Sarnoff (thieving, misbegotten lying anal orifice) and Z. guy stole data (not unlike the microsoft guys ) going to the PF lab in a show of comradeship and observing carefully and still couldn't make their crap work. AND lost in court - but kept tying it up anyway. Don't believe in Hell, but if I am wrong, they are all rotting there.:)

I think by "Professor Farnsworth" he meant Hubert Farnsworth from Futurama.

I think by "Professor Farnsworth" he meant Hubert Farnsworth from Futurama. Likely, but I never tire of letting people who might not know about this know about this!! And, what is really neat is that this was a real conspiracy!!

I'm waiting for the dreidel shaped minaret with stained glass windows myself.
