View Full Version : LC Didn't Get Into Sundance, Did It?

I had heard there was some talk of trying to get LC into the Sundance Festival, and even that they had gone so far as to apply. The deadline for submission for the 2007 festival was, ironically, Sept. 11, 2006. I haven't been able to find a list of films to be shown. Someone please please PLEASE tell me they didn't make the cut.

Sundance website says check back in December for the film schedule.

There is no way. Sundance movies are for "films," not loosely edited nonsense like this.

I was under the impression that there were some irregularities with their submission. For instance, I believe a film has to premiere at Sundance, and Loose Change certainly doesn't fit the bill. Michael Moore's factual inaccuracies aside, the folks at LC have made 10 times the errors. Do you think they'd really be able to get it into the documentary section?

a large studio is in negotiations to co-produce a version for film theaters, which is scheduled to premier at the USA's Sundance Film Festival in spring 2007. http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2006/11/355502.html

You know, if a major movie studio is willing to put this junk into theatres, why should I bother trying to curb this Truth Movement?
If the Americans are so intent to self-destruct, why should I waste my time?
I got better things to do.

In negotiations? Does this mean they are constantly sending letters to this large studio begging them to take a look at an important video? This sounds like more BS designed to lead the conspira-sheeple around by the nose.
With all of these supposed offers, why not take the millions and let them produce a version that doesn't fit the vision of the Trio of Buffoonery? With the piles of cash from the big studios, they could buy full-page ads in major papers. They could revamp the web site, mail copies of LC to every government official in existence, and fund important research. Of course, as there are no serious offers...

In order to qualify under the documentary catagory, in the competition section, they cannot have been publicly displayed where people could purchase tickets. As well, it has to be their world premiere of the movie.
Also, I doubt that Dylan would submit that early, given LC:FC is what he is putting all his marble into, and he admits to not having it complete yet.
As far as copyright issues go, while Sundance claims no responsiblity if a film infringes on them, they would likely look quite poorly on allowing in a film that so obviously infringes on so many copyright issues. It would look VERY BAD for the festival, within the industry to allow such a film in. I mean they have borrowed copyright music, and tonnes of copyrighted footage, without permission or rights.
I suspect this is the big reason behind Dylans attempt to "clean up" the new version. What we will likely see is a VERY WATERED DOWN version of the original, that insinuates a lot, but will not have the nearly the speculative power of the original. They will do this to minimize copyright issues, and to minimize what can be "Debunked" in their new film.
It is a no brainer as far as I am concerned...and a non worrier.

edit: they may possibly qualify under the non-competition section, but once again, alot of people go to sundance, and alot of people will see all of the copyrighted material up on the screen.

Oh, also, thought I'd add this. When a movie is accepted into a festival, the creators are forbidden to discuss their acceptance until the OFFICIAL press conference. If not, do you not think the hollywood community would be "abuzz" with the movies accepted this year? the festivals take their "announcements" seriously, and such a breech (ie Dylan told those at 911blogger he got in) would almost certain result in his movie being removed from the festival...so all and all I think it is completely false.

You're joking, right? ...Right?
The quote in context:
Loose Change contains a wealth of evidence which indicates that the 911 attacks were a false-flag operation staged by the Bush administration in order to justify a so-called "war against terror" to promote their geo-political interests.
The film "Loose Change" has been downloaded over 70 million on Google Video and is thus the first international blockbuster. The version with German subtitles has been viewed 2,000,000 times on the internet since June, 2006. Television stations in France, Israel, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Holland, and Australia have show "Loose Change." Even Hollywood has shown interest -- a large studio is in negotiations to co-produce a version for film theaters, which is scheduled to premier at the USA's Sundance Film Festival in spring 2007.
The source of the first bolded section: Dylan Avery.
Probable source of the second bolded section: Dylan Avery.

Heh. Perhaps he'll walk in front of the screens of other films and lecture the audience.

Assuming this is UK dated, this article is dated Nov. 7. The deadline for submitting a film for Sundance 2007 was Sept. 11. So they couldn't possibly be in negotiations to produce a version for the 2007 festival, and even the 2008 festival would be a reach (since the negotiations aren't even concluded yet and they'd have to actually MAKE the thing, which would take a while.)
I'm beginning to suspect that this is an example of Dylan talking out of an orifice other than the usual.

So what orifice are you talking about?

Quoting myself to reemphasize, that if what you say is true, and this "announcement" of LC accepted into Sundance 2007 was produced by Dylan, than he is either (1) Lying about it, or (2) is about to get in deep shaite with Sundance for announcing his acceptance prior to their official press conference where they release the names of the accepted films...

Do you think DA has a clipping service watching JREF and sending him pertinent items. Funny how there's been discussion here about a silly mention of his about getting the film to Sundance, and now, of a sudden he posts a clarification that he didn't get in. It's like he's trying to retain credibility in response to discussions over here.
Say, I've got a repulsive thought! How about he deletes the soundtrack and hires that well-known engineer and writer, Mr. Ace Baker of the Sepulveda Pass area in California, to do the sound track and write some "original" tunes. Unfortunately, "I'm a Loser" is coprighted..... But I'm sure he can come up with variations of his powderized theorem. Working title for the first song? "All Fall Down Go Boom"?

Dylan lies to the entire world about Sept. 11th... what's a little white lie to stoke up his supporters?
Disgusting, that's what it is.

The purpose of Final Cut is to secure a cash cow for Dylan (first) and the other two clowns (second). With the easy living afforded by purchases of the video and freebies from conspiracy fans, who would want to go back to working fast food or doing low-end construction work?
Dylan still has the endorsement of most of the big guns. LC is packaged with some of Alex Jones' videos. He has a chance to make a big splash with the final version. It will make or break him.
Yes, he has people scouring over this forum. It's mainly unimportant people with severe emotional and mental problems. Reporting back to Dylan and choice conspiracy forums gives them a feeling of importance they can't find in everyday life.

Nope! Not this year!
Not Loose Change 1
Not Loose Change 2
Not Loose Change 2.2
Not Louder Than Words
Not Loose Change the Final Cut!
Dylan will just have to do it over! And give some more copies away!

From Dylan earlier this year (emphasis mine):
you guys know as much as I can tell you. and I can tell you the
screening will happen, regardless. i just off the phone with the Guardian. the Monday after next (the 29th I believe) we'll be in there , and the article will focus heavily on the Parliament screening, and Michael Meacher's decision to host it. they can't back down. end of story.
Never happened.
From Dylan's MySpace page (emphasis mine):
I'm the kid responsible for Loose Change, Loose Change 2nd Edition, and the upcoming Loose Change: Final Cut [i]intended for release in Sundance and American theaters next year.
Intended for release? Is it just me, or does that seem a bit misleading?
But at least we know how his intentions panned out regarding Sundance.
(Time to update your myspace page, Dylan)
From the Loose Change Blog (emphasis mine):
Hollywood went great. Buzz Aldrin was next to us at Baggage Claim in LAX, Lindsay Lohan did some terrible karaoke at a Los Angeles club, The Hulk walked past our car and started dancing to Remo Conscious, Charlie Sheen has a beautiful house, and we're going to be in theaters in 2007, no matter what happens.
No matter what happens...
Now where have we heard that before...?

For $400 you can rent a local theatre for 3 hours. More than long enough to show a film.

Yeah, he chooses his words carefully.
Here's another one that makes him seem a bit more certain:
Solomon: When will this come out in theatres?
Avery: Next year. We're wrapping it up hopefully by the end of this year, and we're going to have it in Sundance in January, and hopefully have deals locked and loaded for next year.
Oh Dylan, when will you learn...
