n the U.S., most seismometers are kept in quiet places. One is in a concrete vault in the basement of the old gymnasium at St. Louis University, now called Bauman-Eberhardt Athletic Center. Melanie Whittington analyzes the data from this seismometer and about 30 others the university maintains.
