Well it may already have been identified (I did do a quick check) but the guys at Bautforum have come across this remarkably ill-argued and frequently humorous web set which claims that NASA are hiding up signs of a massive civilisation of Mars.

Enjoy!

Wait until you see the pages claiming there are Martian structures on the moon! I swear, it's fantastic!

How do we know those aren't Lunar structures on Mars?

Wow, it must be so cool to be able to look at photos and see all kinds of neat stuff that isn't even there.

I think I've seen that guy. When I first started working with NASA-JPL, about 1995 or thereabouts, there was this one clown who'd parade in front of the main gate with a poster exhorting us to "Tell the TRUTH About the Face On Mars" every time he could work up the bus fare to get there.

His paranoia was probably stoked by the loss of Mars Observer (http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/missions/past/observer.html) prior to returning any science data -- but then, who knows what sends the crackpots over the edge?

Haven't seen him for a while. I think his interest tapered off about 1998, or perhaps his medication improved. Since Sept. 11th, security measures at NASA-JPL are far more formidable and he would no longer be able to carry out his antics.

Back in the day I thought about making a fake Martian photograph and slipping it to him, just to see how far the hoax would propagate... never did, though. In retrospect, it would have been juvenile (but fun).

I thought it just looked like pixels, but he says they're individual buildings!!!! It must be true!!!!

Thanks for that. I was getting tired of the gold and red flock left behind by the Italian owner.
