In another thread, 28th Kingdom has presented the concept of pseudoskepticism:
http://forums.randi.org/showpost.php?p=2226960&postcount=18

Here's the definition:
* The tendency to deny, rather than doubt
* Double standards in the application of criticism
* The making of judgements without full inquiry
* Tendency to discredit, rather than investigate
* Use of ridicule or ad hominem attacks
* Presenting insufficient evidence or proof
* Pejorative labelling of proponents as 'promoters', 'pseudoscientists' or practitioners of 'pathological science.'
* Assuming criticism requires no burden of proof
* Making unsubstantiated counter-claims
* Counter-claims based on plausibility rather than empirical evidence
* Suggesting that unconvincing evidence is grounds for dismissing it
* Tendency to dismiss all evidencehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pseudoskeptic

Could there be a better description of the Truthers? You need only change the "pejorative labeling" item to read sheeple, government shills, brainwashed fools, etc., and it's right on the money.

So now we know: Truthers are pseudoskeptics. Thanks to 28th Kingdom for inadvertently helping us out.

*LOL* It´s so true - especially the evidence/investigation part... :covereyes
Oh, and your "doomed by 28th"-Badge for this post is in progress... :D

OK, I'll buy that, Perry.
I wonder...are there also pseudo-CTers?

Only in the sense that they're not for real.

If you're not already in the 28th Legion, you'd best be prepared to join.

Me, I'm in the much more elite Not-Ignored-By-28th-Kingdom Force. We have only six members, and we're shrinking all the time.

He seems to do that a lot.

I certainly can't predict if 28th will see me as a nuisance, what with my charisma and all. It certainly seems like a confession of defeat to block a whole bunch of people. I can see blocking a few unusually obnoxious people--but not half the place.

Why come here if you end up making everyone nonexistent in your own private universe? Wasn't there a Star Trek: The Next Generation based on that?

In addition to the fun of using 28th Kingdom's reference against him, that list of qualities of pseudoskeptics sounds just like what each side always says about the other in any heated debate. It was not crazy of him to post the information. He's expressing how the Truthers see it. In their eyes, we're the hidebound bullies.
