View Full Version : Sylvia Browne - 56% Accuracy in Predictions?

I am suffering from Sylvia Browne sensory overload.
I have read so much and watched so much of and about her that I can't recall where I read or saw what...
I recently saw somewhere that she claims to be eighty-something percent accurate with her readings, but only 56% accurate with her "predictions."
I seem to recall it was something I saw her say on a video clip, but it could have been in a transcript, or I suppose it could even have been someone else's quote (or misquote) of her.
I have been able to find a video of her saying that she is 87% accurate, but she doesn't say whether it is for readings, predictions, or overall.
Does anyone recall this "56%" thing, and if so, where it was said?
I would appreciate any help anyone can give me with this.

I'll take that as a "no".

"No". Not 56%. More like 6%/12%. Heck, a blind man having an epileptic fit can hit more targets than Sylvia...

6% would surprise me.
The woman isn't all that bright.

Because I'm pretty sure I have, but I can't remember where. :(

Ah. There's a difference, yes.
That's not overtly ambitious, is it? 56%?

That's not overtly ambitious, is it? 56%?Especially for a psychic.
Hell, it's not ambitious for a coin-flipper...

Well, I've found where I think I saw this.
It was in a totally unsourced statement in her Wikipedia entry.
The weird paragraph, which was generally very pro-Browne, ended with the statement I recall:
"In spite of criticism and controversy, Sylvia Browne has stayed well in business for 50+ years, giving more than 20 readings a day, appearing at numerous lectures with other psychics such as John Edward, and has published 40 books, with less than half on the New York Times Bestseller List.[citation needed] Sylvia is usually on the Montel Williams show every Wednesday. She has stated that her psychic ability is at about a 90% success rate and her predictions are at 58% success. The paragraph has since been removed, for various reasons. I've been keeping pretty close tabs on the Wiki-wars going on with the entry, which sometimes changes several times in a day.

I posted the clip of Sylvia saying she hoped a woman would never become President on Youtube. One of the comments is claiming her predications have come true:
hello, her prediction about the weird weather in the east has just happened!! the cnn news cast call it the wacky weather. :] and the new hiv drug they found has happened. i heard it on the news this month. take cares.
