View Full Version : Confronting Truthers?

Has anyone here made a habit of confronting truthers down at ground zero or at their meetings? Ive always felt like someone should be out there educating folks when the truthers spew their lies. without people like us, gullible americans will be taken in by the truther's dazzling displays and videos, and be brainwashed into believing lies and poor science.

perhaps we could come up with a one page debunker flyer? something we could all print out and hand out at these events. i hate to see another american fall for their crap.

Haven't been to NYC in 3 years. I might stop over at JFK this May on my way to LHR, but I doubt it. I would love to hear what they say and what they try to do to convince me...

Seriously, you have an avatar and all those posts and don't know that there are people from here that confront the truthers at ground zero?

Being the lurker that I am, even I know we have people down there.

Gravy can't do it alone, Stankeye.

I'm sure his handler has him involved in other ops on his days off where he's away from his "regular job as a tour guide".

He also has a life away from the organization. (Well, I suspect he does)

Maybe once you are smart enough to have 50 worthwhile posts and an avatar, you'll understand.

Gravy and Abby got down there from memory, for a little time we had a bit of a running update of GZ verbal battles and stouches. The good ones I remember was the one up at digg at the current time and Gravy's Alex Jones meeting. Few others would go down also.

The one thing I am really amazed with is his patience, but that comes with all the knowledge he has on the subject.

Ive come very close to going to ground zero, but lately its been soo cold i figured no one would be down there. i also would prefer to be prepared, as i worry that i would just be so infuriated to see these people that i would'nt be able to say much more then "you suck".

CTers could never get coordinated enough to do anything like "Buy Nothing Day". But the Salvation Army part sounds about right.

I challenge 911 denial every chance I get, but it gets exhausting, especially when talking to the true believers. I don't know how Gravy does it; he must have some kind of superhuman stamina.

The thing that's so amazing is once you argue them into a corner, they just up the craziness ante! I had one woman telling me that she knew that the planes weren't hijacked. Because the planes were remote-controlled. How did she know this? She'd seen a video of a grey plane with no windows!

Another one compared 9/11 to Pearl Harbor. I said "OK, Pearl Harbor, we were attacked by Japanese, 911 we were attacked by al-Qaeda. So what?" Then she said, "Everybody knows al-Qaeda doesn't exist! What proof do you have they exist? Have you ever met anybody from al-Qaeda?!"

Are they saying the Japanese don't exist either? Because I have met a Japanese person.

so if Japanese people don't exist, does that mean that Japan doesn't exist either? Seriously, these truthers are on the shallow end of the gene pool. I can't believe the nonsense they bring up.

To bring up Al-Qaeda, it's not so much a group, than it is a bunch of individuals who carry out "jihad" in the name of their Allah.

Actually having participated in Operation Enduring Freedom, I have personally seen evidence of Al Qaeda existing. In fact some of my co-workers were killed by them.

I wonder what her response to that would be. If you were able to simply say, "Yes, I have met someone who belongs to Al Qaeda."

Any guesses?

I suppose they'd demand evidence that they were actually a member of Al Qaeda, not just a random "Freedom Fighter".

I wonder what the lady would do if asked to "prove" that she is a woman, and not just a man or pod-person dressed in women's clothing?

You are taking your life in to your hands if you confront those goons at ground zero...after all, you are questioning their religious beliefs!

I believe people have been beheaded for as little as drawing cartoons! :D

I plan on going sometime one Saturday when the weather gets warmer. I'm curious how the freedom tower is progressing. I'm only about 45 Min's away. I used to work one summer at an architectural firm on Broadway doing computer support for their small office (Allen, Harbinson and associates). Used to take the Path because it was very convenient and cheaper than the actual tunnel or bridge toll. This time when I park in jersey city I will take the Path from exchange place to the trade center station and exit there.
