Crazy Preacher Guy Arrested

A preacher who has spent years using a bullhorn to rail at passers-by on college campuses about "fornicators," "whores" and "sodomites" is accused by a 14-year-old boy of soliciting a sex act.

Brother Stephen, whom I remember fondly as standing on the sidewalk screaming at me for fornicating (sadly inaccurate at the time, I might add) has been arrested. What is the world coming to when crazy preacher guys are getting tossed in the slammer? ;)

This really has minimal religious content, I'm just enjoying the irony. I suspect what will come out is that he called the 14 yr old a fornicator and there was a bit misunderstanding of the term, but I really have to work pretty hard to feel any sympathy for a man whose sole joy in life appeared to be calling all women in view sluts and fornicators... cruelly getting my hopes up... :D

He reminded me of the guys that do that on campus here, in that it seems like the rage is supressive to their own thoughts. I actually like watching those preachers yell stuff, it is very funny. They have no intellectual merit, no reason to judge anyone, and they just assume people are bad. I laugh at the lack of thought because it's hard to take seriously. If it were to be taken seriously from someone with logic to support claims, it'd be different.

The fact is that at age fifteen, over 80% of girls have not had any sex and of all kids under seventeen, 40% of boys and 60% of girls have never had sex.

So 60% of boys have had sex before they turn 17, 40% of girls have had sex before they turn 17... you I always jokingly said to myself "A good 90% of these kids around me are already fornicating by the time they graduate highschool".

Perhaps that preacher was good at math and knew about the laws of chance and probability... odds suggest he was correct about 50% of the time...

It truly must be a spiteful god that commands his minions to go forth and annoy the masses.

I've tried listening to these "street preachers" and the only thing that seems to make sense is that they like the sound of their voices. This is a good reason to pack an MP3 player.

I think it's quite possible that he didn't proposition the 14-year-old, and that the boy is using this as a way to punish him for simply being annoying.

I dunno about those stats, to me calling someone a fornicator or whore kind of implies that they're doing it on a more or less regular basis. Having done it once doesn't seem to quite merit the titles bestowed. Though perhaps he was more going for the "sinning in thought" angle. ;)

I don't know how this will turn out, seems like this guy's actions are pretty well open to misinterpretation or causing someone to seek to shut him up with whatever is handy. Or maybe it's just another case of someone hiding their own perversions behind a facade of religious ferver. Doesn't matter a whole lot to me, my opinion of the guy wasn't getting above gutter depth in any case. :D

And yeah, this guy wasn't into discussion, most people just averted their eyes and walked around him so he just went on ranting semi-coherently (or at least briefly for each individual until they were out of earshot).
