Here is a bit of fun from our The Globe and Mail (Canada's national newspaper) website today. Much of the underlying story is old, but the posting of the article is stirring up lots of commenting on the G&M site.

(I don't have link posting privileges, so I'll ask the moderator to post for me. The story is at "theglobeandmail" dot "com" with the following tail:
/servlet/story/RTGAM.20070224.wlosttomb0224/BNStory/Front/home
or look for the article Has the DNA of Jesus Christ been found? by Michael Posner)

The story is based on the ossuaries of Yeshua bar Yosef, Maria, Matia, Yose, Yehuda and Mariamne found in a cave near Talpiyot and featured in the book The Lost Tomb of Jesus by Jacobovici and Pellegrino. I originally caught the background of this story reading Dr James Tabor's book The Jesus Dynasty, which I thought was a relatively fair and understated work.

The article indicates that Lakehead University is conducting tests on the DNA found inside the unascended bones. No one involved seems to be making outright claims, preferring instead to let the media do that by implication for them. Not surprisingly, you will find the comments more fun than the article. For example, a knowledgeable commenter informs us that this is in fact a plot by homos and pedophiles to advance their adgenda. ... Enjoy.
