Atheist - the meaning

All that I know comes by empirical evidence and scientific study.
The logical and rational is my realm for recognizing reality.
Harassed you are by Reason, but it’s all we essentially have.
Each time you say “Oh, you can’t question faith!” I must sincerely ask
Is not your God responsible for my Reason?
Seems so silly to suggest it be tossed aside.
Thou shalt not toss away Reason should it toss away thy God.

The problem with that is it doesn't suffer translation very well.

The only other problem is there are a number of atheists who are still pretty irrational, in the same way someone can believe the earth is in fact round but still be irrational in everything else, and may just reach that conclusion on bad reasoning anyway.

I have based this poem on a quotation by Thomas Jefferson:

"Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call to her tribunal every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blindfolded fear....Do not be frightened from this inquiry by any fear of its consequences. If it end in a belief that there is no God, you will find incitements to virtue on the comfort and pleasantness you feel in its exercise and in the love of others which it will procure for you."

Victor, contact the US military. I'm sure there's some grant money for coming up with acroynms. In fact, I think they start with that and then build the weapons system.
