I have this installed, but I've just noticed that it hangs for a long time until I close it using the task-bar. I un-installed it, thinking perhaps, it was corrupt. Then re-installed it but it still does it.
I tried in both full mode and quick mode, the same place it just sits there appearing not to do anything.
Any clues what to do here or why it is doing it?

Are you sure it was done scanning? Is it hanging after the scan is complete and you deleted anything it picked up? I've used it for years with no problems and recommend it to anyone I know with a computer.

I've had it seem to be stalled stall when it isn't really. Some virus programs do this too. I'm not sure what it thinks it's found, but it can linger over some files for a very long time.
Try sometime running it just before dinner or something, so it can run unattended for a longer time. See where it ends up.

Set it to run overnight. The report should be timestamped, so you can check the start and end times in the morning.

I've had nothing but good things from Ad-Aware. I'm surprised to hear you having a problem with it.

Its still working even when it appears to stall...It takes about half an hour, maybe more, to scan my drive. Especially if you have it set to full system scan.

I got the impression, after comparing it to SpyBot, that Spybot is a much better product.

I haven't run either of them recently, so can't speak for the latest versions, but when I did before, I found they each had some coverage the other lacked, making it advisable to use both.

I've used them both, and I find the instructions for Spybot much easier to understand (but only so long as I don't try to do anything fancy). I'm told that it's best to use them in tandem, but I've already got my computer so loaded up that I hardly have any RAM left.

It stuck for 5 hours in one place. I can't delete anything it says up to the point it sticks nothing is found. When I went, this time, to close it, taskbar reported it not working. Seems to be the same place each time. I can assure you my computer is not stuffed, it used to take about 20-45 mins maximum to scan fully. I have never known it go any longer.

I've been using this product for about a year; as one poster notes; it catches stuff that Spybot doesn't, and vice-versa.
I run both weekly or so.

Irrelevant how much RAM you've got. They are not background scanners. You start them and let them run when you aren't otherwise working with your PC.

Parts of them do run in the background.
