This tirade was brought about because I'm tired of being looked upon as some sort of aberration, one of those warts, a freak who doesn't fit this world, someone who doesn't understand Pastor Ashcroft and his prayer-meetings. I'm a bright...
I had never considered Randi as a freak, rather as a considerable and eloquent intellect.
This may sound somewhat sycophantic, but I have also encountered those who find my world view difficult to deal with, I have been looked down on as someone worthy of pity for my lack of belief in gods, spirits and the suchlike. Of all of these things my lack of belief in an afterlife seems to cause the most problems for those who do.
I referred to myself as a ‘bright’ in one of those late night conversations about the universe et al. and this seemed to be received well, some people find it less offensive than ‘atheist’.
Is there a point to this post ? Well, no, I’ve just had a long day at work.:D
