From the article:The problem is, now we are confronted with yet another scientific view of an extremely serious event of the Bible that affects the way we view God. Here we have one more swing of the hammer that is slowly chiseling away the foundation stone of which we have based our faith upon.It sounds like the author thinks the foundations of Christianity is in peril and with good reason.
Billie, did you read this article, or did you just see the title?

Beware of what? Beware of reading yet another cretinous screed detailing how the situation in the world is a sign that 'The end is nigh', despite the fact that people have been saying 'the end is nigh' and pointing to whatever the situation in the world was at the time as 'proof' for ages. If that's what you are warning me to beware of, I'll take your advice.
I wouldn't to fall asleep or break out into hysterical fits of laughter at my desk, after all.

My advice to you Billiefan2000:
Learn it by heart until you are able to recite it from memory. ;)

Perhaps one day, Billiefan, you will be able to convince at least ONE PERSON on these boards that you have a single worthwhile thing to say.
Not today.

My computer's stupidity blocker won't allow me access to any of billiefan's links. I wonder why?

Hey, billiefan2000, the linked article says nothing startling and nothing that any skeptic, atheist or christian, would find in the least bit "scary" or "mind-blowing" or "revelatory".
What a giant :s2:
So, how old ARE you? Have you graduated school yet? Is English comprehension one of your particular personal stumbling-blocks??

The miracle is in that it [the bush] did not get consumed by the fire.
No, the miracle is that anyone believes a 3000 (?) year old fairy story.

Nah, thats a little too optimistic. Not even a child would believe that.
Not today.
Agreed. Not today.

From the link: "This is a monthly (sometimes bi-weekly) Internet news commentary and prophecy update". (emphasis mine...sayeth the Lord)
Prophecy update????? Um....what good is prophecy if it has to be updated?
Yahweh
22nd July 2003, 06:53 AM
The reason is simple. If prophecies arent updated at a monthly (or bi-weekly) rate, people soon lose interest. When this happens, people stop giving money the church and Christian Organizations. Also, without those periodic updates, fewer and fewer people will be scared into recruiting themselves into the Christian legion.

Well, thank goodness they have folks like billie to blindly consume whatever drivel they publish. Wouldn't want a good fear mongering scheme to go bust, espcially not after 2000 years.

He may spend more time here as the raptureready message board is down. Which is a pity as I was going to show the glp the thread where the woman was asking for prayers as she wasn't submitting enough to her somewhat meek husband. Priceless

Billiefan,
I demand that you discuss the things you post links to. You do nothing except parrot what other people say. I demand that you engage in a debate and answer questions that are put to you!

You are talking to the most brick-wall-like human known to the JREF forums. Your demands will meet with silence, or worse -- a reply, which is inevitably inane, non-sequitur and betraying of very, very low comprehension of the subject matter.

I know, That was more of a way to blow off some steam rather than engage in an actual debate. But, there always is a chance that he will respond.

Optimist.
My personal assesment of billiefan is that he believes very strongly in his religion but knows that he lacks the skills to defend it in any sort of discussion. Thus he cuts and pastes articles without comment and when he does comment he mindlessly parrots the same tired arguments that theists have been using for centuries. He does this because he knows he would be torn to shreds in any sort of real discussion so he avoids that like the plague.

You probably should add that young Billiefan (14 years old, I'm betting) is terribly afraid of death.

According to some evidence someone post around here before, rapturetroll2000 graduated H.S. in 1998, making him about 23. That also means his lack of communication skills may be attributable not so much to youth as to, um, um, let's just say lack of brains.

...Internet news commentary and prophecy update designed to encourage the saints and keep our hearts and minds fixed upon The Blessed Hope. (emphasis added)
Why do saints need encouragement at all much less from an internet newsletter.
More importantly, your newsletter writer missed the most important line in the entire article.
Bishop Knut Andresen in Trondheim, however, is not impressed by the scientists' explanation.
"The stories in the bible are symbolic and are meant to bring a message to the reader. Scientific phenomena make no difference in this connection", said the bishop.
It is possible to worship the One True God without insisting that the burning bush was an actual miracle that defies all possible explanations. One can hold God in reverence and awe without believing that Noah's flood was an actual historical event. One can live the life that Jesus outlined without making up stories about NASA scientists being confused about a missing day. One can consider Yahweh the Alpha and the Omega without insisting on a 6000-year-old world. It is O.K. to see the stories as symbolic - as long as you understand the underlying symbolism.

I think I've said a couple of times on these boards that the bible should not be taken as a literal account, but as a tool to teach you how to live morally.
One can consider Yahweh the Alpha and the Omega without insisting on a 6000-year-old world.

billiefan2000: modern day version of the guy with long hair on the street corner ringing a bell and wearing a sandwich board that reads "The End Is Near" and yelling "Repent!" to no one in particular.
