We all know how twoofers like to apply their unique brand of logic to 9/11; how every coincidence or mistake is seen as part of a massive plot.
Well I was reading about the 2004 Beslan massacre today and decided to see where I would end up by using conspiracy logic.
We all know the story: on the first day of school on Sept 1, 2004, School Number One in Beslan was stormed by Chechen militants who took 1,200+ hostages. On Sept 3, explosions erupted in the school and a gunbattle ensued leaving over 330 dead including 150+ children.
Some things our conspiracy-minded friends might spot that's fishy about the "official story" include:
1) The Chechen attackers bribed their way through several Russian Army checkpoints to get to the school.
Most likely: Russian troops are known to be badly paid and very corrupt (some have sold weapons and ammo to Chechens during the war) so it’s hardly surprising that they’d let a couple vehicles pass through a road block for a bribe. The soldiers would have had no way of knowing what the men in the vehicles were up to anyway.
Twoofer logic: the army was clearly under orders to let the attackers through – a Russian NORAD “stand down.”
2) There were more people than usual at SNO one that day because many mothers had brought their younger kids there after the local kindergarten was closed for the day due to a gas supply problem.
Most likely: gas supply problems happen and this one happened at the worst possible time. Awful coincidence.
Twoofer logic: What are the odds that a gas problem would happen on that particular day? Why bring the kids to that school instead of the other six in town? The authorities obviously turned off the gas so that the massacre would have more victims!
3) The Chechens wore black ski masks.
Most likely: Islamic militants cover their faces often in battle.
Twoofer logic: Why cover their faces unless they’re AGENTS?!
4) The Chechens took away all cell phones from the hostages.
Most likely: they didn’t want anyone passing info to the Russian forces outside.
Twoofer logic: they didn’t want the hostages telling the world that the hostage-takers weren’t Muslims!
5) After securing the school, the terrorists executed 20 adult males and then made hostages throw the bodies out of windows and forced children to clean up the blood.
Most likely: They’re terrorists! That’s what they do!
Twoofer logic: The authorities needed a horrible act to anger the population because obviously taking a school full of kids hostage wasn’t enough.
6) The hostages were gathered in the school gymnasium which was a recent addition to the building. The gym was then rigged up with bombs and trip wires. Russian authorities suspect that the bombs might have been brought into the school by under-cover militants during the gym’s construction.
Most likely: Either they brought their own bombs that day or the terrorists did indeed do some lengthy planning. They've been known to do that.
Twoofer: CONTROLLED DEMOLITION!
7) Russian government initially reported only that 354 people were being held.
Most likely: they got the real number wrong based on incomplete information.
Twoofer: They expected to killed everyone else while leaving 354 alive and for some reason they typed up a press release annoucing it and some spokesperson got mixed up and read it by mistake.
8) On the night of Sept 1, a special meeting of the UN Security Council demanded the release of hostages. George W Bush offered US “support in any form” to Russia.
Most likely: Bush sympathized with victims of a terror attack.
Twoofer: Bush knew it would help his war on terror and probably had a hand in planning the whole thing.
9) On Sept 3, at 1pm, an explosion ripped through the gym and a gun battle began. In the chaos, witnesses don’t agree on what exactly happened:
- the gunfire started before the bomb went off
- first the bomb, then the gunfire
- the bomb went off because it had been insecurely attached with tape, fell, and exploded
- a terrorist tripped over a detonation wire
- a sniper killed a terrorist who was standing on a dead-man detonator
- the Russians fired RPG rounds into the school
Most likely: whether the bombs went off by accident or intentionally, the Chechens are to blame.
Twoofer logic: the terrorist agents had second thoughts and so the Russians had to shoot the guy standing on the detonator and fired RPGs to set off the bombs!
10) During the gun battle the Russians employed Mi-24 gunships and T-72 tanks.
Most likely: the Russians are known to use heavy weaponry despite the risk to civilians.
Twoofer: the Russians were hoping to kill all the witnesses!
11) After bombs went off and a gun battle ensued, about 13 terrorists escaped the Russian encirclement and were finally killed in a near by house.
Most likely: the Russians screwed up.
Twoofer logic: a bunch of cave-dwelling Muslims slipped by Russian special forces??? Stand down!
