mentioned in the article I must mention is:
Regrettably, the persecution of Christians was renewed in the 20th Century, which saw more than 100 million Christians persecuted and martyred in Africa, Asia and even Europe.
Today this persecution continues unabated in the Sudan, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
Now in the United States, some intolerant people are effectively calling for the exclusion of all things Christian from public discourse.

Obnoxious Christians, on the other hand, are a different matter.

The link provided above by rapturetroll2000 is to CBN to an article entitled...Beware the Bigoted Kibitzers. Hmmm. We don't hear Pat Robertson using Yiddish words much; I wonder what's up. Oh, that's it! The real title for the article is...Beware the Bigoted JewsAll the examples of complaint here are Jews who are complaining about Mel not revising history and not blaming the Jews for killing Christ. Let me sum it up: The Jews killed Christ, and they're still trying to cover it up by exerting the influence they have over the media and Hollywood. This is anti-Christian bigotry.
Now don't try to weigh in on this discussion rapturetroll2000, since you have no idea what I'm talking about.

Billie:
Given how anti-Catholic you are, why do you like this film? It is a film that Gibson is making with a specifically "catholic" point of view on the testements, and which he hopes will promote catholicism -- especially more traditional catholcism...the antithesis (sp?) of the fundumentalist protestantism you so often espouse...(for example, Gibson didn't make this movie to crank up the "end is near, prepare for the rapture" line you take, he made this movie to defend traditional catholic interpretation of the events around Jesus' cruxcifiction). Given your history of disputes with other crazy xians, I suspect you'll be back here yourself denouncing this movie once it is out... just a prediction....

How silly. Anyone's who's looked into the matter knows that it was the Romans who killed Jesus, not the Jews.
The Romans reflexively killed anyone they thought was a revolutionary; they didn't give it a thought. The Jews had as much influence over the Romans in the death of Jesus as the Tooth Fairy. The Romans wouldn't have given a toss what the elders Jews thought or said.
Now, who hates the Tooth Fairy? (We're not talking about the Tooth Fairy from 'Manhunter' are we? That guy was seriously creepy)

I don't know why I'm trying to reason with you here billiefan, but no one here hates Jesus (at least not to my knowledge). And no one here hates Mohammed, Buddha, Lao Tzu, Confucius, or any other historical religious icons. We simply don't accept any of them as our svaior.
Please stop osting crap like this, your not impressing or convincing anyone.

Ask yourself Billiefan, would Jesus really give a loaf or fish about a movie? When he speaks to you from the cross and opens your heart then maybe you should ask him.
While you are answering questions, who hates the movie? I bet it will have very high video sales.
Most movies of the life of the buddha don't get great box office either.

No, they're too busy hating you.
For God's sake, Billiefan, at any point do you take time to think through what it is you're about to say? Yes, this is intended to be a slam, because I've got news for you, kid: people have about had it with your trolling.
Just a thought, (and yes, I'm echoing what's been said before): maybe the movie was simply bad. There have been numerous movies made about great things that were simply awful movies. They're unwatchable. They're wretched. They suck. They're misery on a stick.
They're probably right up your alley...

They need to make a movie about Cthulhu. That would be cool. Then he would devour all of us, geintile and jew alike.

Yeah, I've noticed Hollywood's aversion to making films about Christ. :rub:
Has it ever occured to you that people might hate this movie because Mel Gibson sucks just as much as a director as he does as an actor? Or that people might hate epic films they can't understand because the dialogue is spoken in two dead languages and there are no subtitles?
Would you enjoy a film about the life of Allah if the dialogue was Arabic and there were no subtitles? If not, would your dislike of the film mean that you hated Allah?

Seems like "Jesus Christ Superstar" is still popular. Runs every Easter like clockwork.
"The Ten Commandments" is still recognized as a classic.
Oh well, I suppose it makes a good excuse for producing unmarketable goods. Cry "Nobody wuvs Jeeezuss!" and beg for sympathy from whatever dimwits will be moved by such a shallow ploy.

they need to make it in the language of the Great Old One's and maybe Mi-go, with no subtitles. that would be a hoot.

Considering the intolerance billiefan has shown on this forum in the past, I don't think he needs a movie to reaffirm his hate for Allah.

Mind my cynicism, but are you making that up?
"persecuted and martyred" is such a positive and uplifting term. Its euphemizes the pointless deaths of Christians who died in pointless faith and vain. Perhaps "persecuted and killed" is more correct phrase. Martyed makes it seem like those Christians accomplished something. If they were fighting for their country, it might have been worth just a little...
Today this persecution continues unabated in the Sudan, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
People are idiots. It may come as a surprise to you (and especially to me), but not all people are as tolerable to religion as the American. Some of them will outright kill you for thinking that a woman can walk around showing more than an inch of skin.
Now in the United States, some intolerant people are effectively calling for the exclusion of all things Christian from public discourse.
We are (supposed to be) a secular nation which favors nor denies any religious views. Secular views are completely tolerable to everyone.
About the movie, I'm going to go out on a limb and say perhaps the movie got such bad reviews was because THE MOVIE SUCKED! Like Upchurch said, maybe it just isnt a good movie. I've seen plenty of bad movies, I hated them not because of the religious messages in them (by the way I loved the movie Stigmata), but because the movies were poorly written, acted, and directed.

Let me steal a line from Mark Twain.
"There are lies, damn lies, and Christian propaganda, like the folllowing:
'Regrettably, the persecution of Christians was renewed in the 20th Century, which saw more than 100 million Christians persecuted and martyred in Africa, Asia and even Europe.'"
People love Jesus, he's the best goalie the Flyers ever had . . .
