Lynn Margulis, ex-wife of Carl Sagan, biologist, controversial figure in science, is on a blog tour to promote her newest book. In other words, she is stopping by certain blogs to answer questions about her book, or anything else. Today she's on Skepchick, she was on Pharyngula last week, and I'm sure she'll have other stops afterward. So, if you're interested in asking her a question, you can do it by commenting here: http://skepchick.org/blog/?p=462
Here's her wiki entr (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynn_Margulis)y if you're unfamiliar with her. Her skepticism regarding HIV causing AIDS has been particularly controversial in the past.

How does one organise a "blog tour" to promote a book?
And why does Dr Margulis never hang around to answer any of the questions her posts have raised at any of her stops?

She did at Pharyngula; her replies are posted under the name 'Margulis'. But I haven't read it thoroughly, so there may be only one or two replies there.

Fair do's for her - she has responded to my question, albeit only to brush off my request for a reference for her claim that "HIV tests are nearly always positive for pregnant women"
I have tried again though. Let's wait and see...

In this case, I was contacted by Lynn's publicist, who asked if we would host something. It's the first I've ever heard of such a thing.

That's the only real stumbling point for me with what I feel is an otherwise great idea. I assume she moves on simply because she doesn't have time to continue answering questions on each blog indefinitely; however, people are free to follow her around the Internet, which is slightly easier than following someone around the country on a real-life book tour.

Look. That was a long time ago and the restraining order had lapsed. Let it go.

You have your own forum and a blog and I just now noticed... I think need to look at people's signatures more often. You should have a win date with skepchic feature. I'm under 30 so I don't count as a sick pervert for mentioning that!
Sorry to go on a tangent but I guess that could be a compliment so a worthy tagent as to Dr. Margulis her writing is quite bit different from Carl's, it doesn't quite draw me in.

Ha, actually I did have a contest like that (http://skepchick.org/blog/?p=314), with amusing results (http://skepchick.org/blog/?p=317).

Actually got me to laugh when I’m in a down mood that’s pretty good.
“Winner” plays all expenses. :p
Your challenge is past due and you’re about 2500 miles too far.
Any rate for fun, I’ll throw your challenge back at you but winning a date with me wouldn’t be something you’d likely want, so a better prize. I have a wooden container with a glass mosaic on the front of it, what is the mosaic picturing? I Just took a picture of it. If you can guess correctly, I’ll send you an object of your choice from one of the selves on my wall (not compete junk).
Or you can have the date, I’d be willing to send a (one way) plane ticket.;)
I'll even give you ten guesses.

Nipsy Russel.
I need that stick hitting smiley right now. :bike: This will have to do in the mean time. That bike one is kinda harsh, oh well.
Wrong, you may however select an item from the "mystery box". I'll post a picture of the "box mystery box" later...
I only offered Rebecca 10 guesses. I can't make that easy, I'll lose by probability alone otherwise. Anyone else can guess once though.
Sorry if I'm inferring with your thread, I'll move my silliness elsewhere if requested.
