Does anyone know what font this is? And if so, where can I get a free version? Thanks.

That's hard to tell. It's not particularly easy to recognize.

Is it called "Basin Modeling"?

What software is that? Some programs come with their own, proprietary fonts.

That software is photoshop. That is a screen shot from my work computer. The image is a photoshop eps given to us by a client.

I don't know if it will work with eps files, but you can convert it with Photoshop and try running it through WhatTheFont (http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/).

I'd phone the client and ask them. They might even know.

I did. I'm waiting for them to call back. I figured I might as well ask you guys while waiting for their call.

They didn't even tell you the name of the font?

A lot of times, no. Sometimes, they don't even know the name.

Looks like Arial Black to me.
(just a guess)

According to http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/, it's either:

Charcoal (http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/apple/charcoal/charcoal/)

Strada Cond TF-Black (http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/fontfont/strada/cond-tf-black/)

Strada Cond Black (http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/fontfont/strada/cond-black/)

Triplex Sans Bold Lin (http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/emigre/triplex/sans-bold-lin/)

or

Triplex Sans Bold (http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/emigre/triplex/sans-bold/)

:)

http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ lets you upload a jpg of text and it finds the font. It's good.

Looks like a variation of Univers.

But they can see that in the app they are using.

It definately looks like Charcoal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charcoal_(typeface)) from Apple. Unfortunately it can't be bought (but it is included with MacOS). The Wikipedia article that I linked to has links to Truth (which is by the same designer and based on the same design), and a free clone called Virtue.

It definately looks like ...

Hey Skoob, I hate to do this to you, but since I went to all the trouble to make this site, I figure you should see it:

:D

But they can see that in the app they are using.

The client is always the person who is responsible for the design. Sometimes, there are 2 or 3 middle men.

Tony

That should read:

The client isn't always the person who is responsible for the design.

Well, ultimately it is, but I know what you mean.

If the client want the exact same font, it is up to him to get you the name - or let you contact the designer.

Otherwise, it's an impossible task. Unreasonable, too.

Yep, but it isn't always that simple. It should be, but it isn't.

Otherwise, it's an impossible task. Unreasonable, too.

Who said clients were reasonable?

Anyways. Thanks for the help, we never got the font so we just decided to go with what we had. I'll note the name of that font for next time.
