Okay, my Cafe Press StopSylviaBrowne page (http://www.cafepress.com/stopsylvia) was temporarily stripped of all its items today.

I'll be writing an article about it, but bottom line: Browne's attorney - this time spelling Browne's name correctly - notified CafePress that my StopSylviaBrowne merchandise was violating their client's trademark.

Cafe Press, not being in the business of determining who is right and who is wrong in these matters, put all of the site's merchandise on "pending" status, meaning that nobody could order it.

As a temporary measure, I have replaced all of the merchandise with new merchandise which uses the site's logo, but does not mention you-know-who.

Those of you with the old-school SSB merchandise: you now have a collector's item!

I intend on updating the merchandise, particularly the shirts, so that they have words on the back. Perhaps "SHE NEEDS TO STOP", or "STOP THE CLAWED ONE", "STOP SYLVIA" or even "STOP SYLVIA (RHYMES WITH 'CLOWN')". I might also put back the old image, replacing "StopSylviaBrowne.com" with StopSylvia.com (which also works).

I am open for any suggestions as to other words people might like to see on the back, or other CafePress products they would like to see in the shop.

This isn't a big moneymaker for me by any means, but it is a way of getting the word out.

How about "Bring Browne Down!"

If you have your logo and only the last name, would that be enough?

Robert,

I use Spreadshirt.com, which has higher quality products than CafePress. You could try using them, though of course her 1800 Lawyer might threaten them as well.

I'm not a lawyer (any around here?) but I suppose that I don't understand why, even if she trademarked her name, that having T-shirts with your website's logo and her name on it is any different than having it on the website.

And as we can see, your site is up and running and hopefully will be until The Claw is out of business.

That's disappointing, but not unexpected! You're making them hurt, Robert, and they are trying everything in their power to suppress you.

Keep up the good work mate!

Cheers,

Hmmm - are trademark laws different in other countries? If you have a non-USA t-shirt site then would she be able to threaten them in the same way?

Debunking Sylvia Browne is certainly doing god's work (hehehe... only kidding, I'm an atheist). Having to deal with her attorney certainy wouldn't be fun for most people. I'm glad you have the energy to fight the good fight. Best of luck.

Once you have an intimate understanding of cold reading and psychic tricks and consider using themself yourself (for clearly wholesome and entertaining reasons) you wonder what the public at large believes. I can't even get my mom to believe 100% that there is no ESP. She did a wonderful job when she worked at a very technical medical job, yet she won't tell me she can't stop believing in woo, even today. If I can explain away every woo thing my mom can think of yet she won't agree there is no woo, than explaining away woo is a terribly uphill battle. My mom's pretty smart and not religious and I can be unrelenting, however she says there may be some electricity thing I don't understand. If I can't convince my usually rational mom than I doubt I possess any ability to convince strangers.

Science bless you for trying.

Fortunately, Senex, I have a much more focused goal than that. I am not trying to prove there "is no woo." I am not even trying to prove that there are no "real psychics."

My site focuses on one thing and one thing only: Sylvia Browne. And, if my email is to be believed, the evidence I have presented on the site has helped many to come to the conclusion that she is not what she claims to be.

Is there any way to get the old designs back up? What did Cafe Press tell you about any options you might have?

Is there any way to get the old designs back up? What did Cafe Press tell you about any options you might have? The old designs have "www.StopSylviaBrowne.com" on them, and Browne's attorneys are claiming that I am stepping on her trademark by selling merchandise with her name on it.

My attorney tells me that it is nonsense, but I don't think it's important enough to spend time worrying about, so I am just putting up merchandise without "Sylvia Browne" on it for now.

Have you spoken to your lawyer about whether or not you have a counterclaim for harassment? You now have provable damages....

Robert, can you have your lawyer contact CafePress and explain it to them?

I'm certain you have helped many people grab a hold on rationality. I'm surprised that you wern't preaching to the choir on this site. Sylvia Browne and John Edwards rob grief stricken people of money. That fits my defintition of evil. Fighting evil is worth praise. You are doing a praiseworthy act.

Of course I am not missing the point. This is still the United States, even if George Bush is running it at the moment. Your use of her name isn't anything that hasn't been done hundreds of times in the past. I hope the civil liberties union will take your case.

Bravo.

You're hurting them.

Your approach and persistence in this (as was the Kaz site) is exemplary.

Hurt, hurt, hurt.

Sod the "fans" website - www.stopsylviabrowne.com (http://www.stopsylviabrowne.com) is rocking her world MUCH more.

Well done.

Jacking the thread...

When I tried to log into GoSylviaBrowne, I received the following error:

phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

Does this mean that I've finally joined the lofty ranks of those who have been banned from GSB?

Or does it mean that my nefarious plans have actually succeeded?
Stay tuned...

Re: damages - doesn't it make her trademark claim stronger if you have a commercial interest? If you have a claim for damages, that means you were profiting from her name, surely? Isn't your defence against the trademark accusations that you aren't using it for financial gain but for a critique site?

If you are selling t-shirts, you are technically trading off her name. I would avoid doing that if I were you.

"Damages" in the US does not always refer to tangibles and profit. "Damages" can be mental stress, pain and suffering, damage to reputation and so on.

As I said, it's not worth the hassle, even though I am on pretty solid ground from a legal standpoint.

Well done.Thanks, EH.

I never said you did. Two other people suggested it. I was talking directly to you in case you had taken their suggestion seriously.

"Ditch the Bitch"?

"Burn the Witch"?

"Suffer Not a Witch to Live"?

"If it floats like a duck , but sits on a broomstick-it may be Slyvia".

Just switch the name to "SlyviaBrowne". Her attorneys can't spell it anyway.

She's cracking Bob. You can only put so much plaster on one face.

Leave off the "e" for evil. I doubt it would get an instant reversal from cafe press, but it's a possible future option.

Reminds me of the other thread, Geller pulling all critical videos from YouTube. They know that cafepress, just like YouTube, will pull any content immediately. It doesn't really matter if it is legal or not, it's just good old harassment.

But it's nice to see that some of our psychic friends are feeling quite a fire under their butt recently! At least, I can't find another explanation for their latest "legal" steps in trying to silence criticism.
