I have been trying to point this out for some time on my site. These people use fear no differently than they say Bush is. I happen to believe Bush IS using fear to win elections and push his middle east agenda but so are the leaders of the conspiracy theorists.

In the early 90's I was involved in local politics trying to get more money for education for the poor. I asked one politician why more people didn't come out to support educating the poor. He told me people don't usually come out unless there is a crisis. Educating the poor is not a crisis for most americans. I began to see one manufactured crisis after another. "The blacks are taking jobs away from white!" "The mexicans are taking away your money and your jobs!" "Cute little baby zygotes are being murdered!"... on and on... Alex Jones was right there asking for money to rebuild the Waco compound and calling Clinton a child murderer. "They're taking away your freedoms!" They're taking away your guns!" Blah, blah, blah... "They're doing [X] to you! Give me money and vote for me and I'll stop them!"

The sad thing is it works.
