So the RN personel are being released by Iran.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says 15 British naval personnel captured in the Gulf are free to leave.

He repeated Iran's view that the British sailors and marines "invaded" Iranian waters, but said they were being released as a "gift" to Britain.

He said they would be taken to Tehran airport and flown home within hours.

Downing Street welcomed news of the release, while Iranian state media said the British crew members "shouted for joy" on hearing the news.

But, predictably, when this all first started there were claims amongst the 'truther' brethren that this was just a false flag op in order to justify a war with Iran.

Someeven claimed that it was completely staged, with the complicity of the media.

I bet they feel very silly now.

That's great news! It doesn't even bother me much that the Iranians used this to polish their image. I'm just glad that the crew members are safe and that the confrontation has de-escalated.
