Many moons ago, on this forum, someone started a thread to ask how or why we each became skeptics. My reply was that way back in 1980, some bloke called James Randi (you may have heard of him) had a TV show on the Granada network in the UK, debuking various psychic claims. On this show he had a well-spoken, very personable Irish man who claimed o be able to read auras, but when tested, the results had been no better than chance. That one incident in particular on the show stayed with me, causing me to think deeply about the various claims made regarding the paranormal.

I think the guy was facing away from the screens when they backlit them.
