In the commentary:
Go to http://www.netspeed.com.au/ttguy/ for a few laughs, please....!
This is obviously a parody site of some sort:
Please make checks payable to Dr Frank N. Stine
The Address for the Society for DNA Free Food is: Suite 1, 44 Chubb St Latham ACT 2615.
However it's not clear (to me at least) from the commentary if Randi is laughing at it because he thinks it is a serious site, or a good parody (because I think it's a very poor parody myself).

Of course it is a parody.
Just take the poll (http://www.netspeed.com.au/ttguy/PAGE3.HTM) and click trough to the survey results (http://www.netspeed.com.au/ttguy/results.htm)

I see.
I never made it that far. I just went straight to the "Information for Investors" to determine if it was woo-woos, a scam, or a parody.

At the bottom of the page, it says "Copyright 1st April 1999" (April fools day).

DNA Free Food Survey Results
The results of the previous DNA Free Food Survey are in. This is where we reveal the fact that the DNA Free Food Society was a joke. DNA free food is impossible - unless you confine your diet to certain foods such as sugar and vegetable oil.
Which is a shame because 19% of the 541 people who I surveyed on this site said they would pay 10 fold more for DNA free food.
38% said they would pay and additional 50% or more for DNA free food.
42% said they would pay nothing more for DNA free food.
LMAO!!! At least I'm part of the 42% :wink8: :D

Very funny! And I bet someone could actually make money selling such products and concocting a diet plan and book to go with it!

It was apparent to me within a few seconds that it was a parody site. Personally I am pretty sure Randi knew that too and tossed it out there for us to enjoy.

They already do. I've seen people on forums say they buy 'non-bio' food without dna. Whether or not it is advertised like that-I don't think the person cares. What matters is that they think they are buying it that way. Try to tell them it's impossible...and whoa!

Quote from 'How it Works' ...
"This is still in the experimental phase and we have yet to fully test it but what we are trying to do is to set up a phylotaxic phase transition of the subquarkic atom field surrounding the young tomato plants."
That made me chuckle in a subquarkic kind of way.

This reminds me of homeopathic crystals.

What are homeopathic crystals? Sounds interesting...I'll see if I can look them up.

Probably referring to the solid dosage form of homeopathic "remedies". They come in dilutions, little pills or tablets, all of which contain nothing but the vehicle (either water or lactose) and if you're lucky, a few molecules of the "active" ingredient.

Nice, and these are the people that tell consumers that drug companies (that are regulated) are the ones that aren't ethical.

Yes, okay, I hadn't actually read the site till now. You're right, Randi would have picked it in an instant (if not, Hal simply must stage a takeover :D ).
BTW,
Happy second birthday.....

Yes but "those people" (woo woos?) are absolutely convinced these things work. In fact I've seen one woo woo post something to the effect that homeopathy works more than 95% of the time, completely curing whatever ailments/diseases/chronic conditions you might have. You see, homeopathy treats the entire body and cures the problem, unlike "allopathic" medicine which only treats the symptoms and masks the true health problems.
Believe any of that and I've got some land in Florida to sell you! ;)

No Billy Joe. No mistake on Randi's part.
Postcast: Lots of egg on Billy Joe's face. The egg will contain DNA.
