Well... it was bound to happen. According to a new DVD put out by the American Family Radio Productions, the following are reasons why God let school shooting, including Virginia Tech, happen:

Can we have a short description? Some of us have very slow connections but want to know what was in the video.

The ever-wacky Westboro Baptist Church (the one that pickets the funerals of soldiers who fought in the Iraq War) is planning to picket the funerals of the victims of the VT massacre. According to them, God is punishing us because of our tolerance of homosexuality.

The is the official announcement from their website www.godhatesamerica.com:

WBC to Preach at Funerals of Virginia Tech Dead

WBC will preach at the funerals of the Virginia Tech students killed on campus during a shooting rampage April 16, 2007. You describe this as monumental horror, but you know nothing of horror -- yet. Your bloody tyrant Bush says he is 'horrified' by it all. You know nothing of horror -- yet. Your true horror is coming. "They shall also gird themselves with sackloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads" (Eze. 7:18).

Why did this happen, you ask? It's simple. On April 16, 2007, this nation, through the offices of your military and conspirators therewith took a shot at the servants of God -- your marksman was limp and lame and he had terror all around, so he did a lousy job. But what you get for your trouble is that your God shot at you! The LORD your God sent a crazed madman to shoot at your children, and he didn't miss. Get this straight -- God sent this South Korean madman to kill 31 of your children at Virginia Tech. Was God asleep while this took place? Was He on vacation? Of course not. He willed this to happen to punish you for assailing His servants.

It's a "they came for the ___ and I said nothing" rip-off entitled "The Day the Kicked God out of the Schools". Apparently, an omnipotent God is bound by human law.

"Kiss my ass, or I'll let you get shot." It's really hard for my small mortal mind to comprehend the kind of infinite love God has for his creation.

Anybody else notice the conspicuous absence of Nickel Mine, Pennsylvania on their map? I guess it's not good propaganda to point out that even when you let God in your school, he won't save a life.

It's all Dr. Spock's fault for saying that parents shouldn't hit their kids.

But you see, those little girls were Amish. That means they weren't "real christians" so they don't count.

Well, what about the Canada school? I mean, if god is mad about no god in school laws in USA, then why take it out on Canada? IS there God in Canadian schools? Unless of course, it's an attack on Jesusland...But, why attack Jesusland? They got great themeparks.

Oh the typical right-wing scapegoats: Madeline Murray O'Hare, no prayer in school, Dr. Spock saying we shouldn't beat our kids, legal abortion, Bill Clinton getting blow jobs in the oval office, sexual freedom and gay rights, "Hollywood liberals", same-old same old.

Why is there a flag of America flying when they say "God"?

According to this video, the schools in, for example, the Netherlands should have a shooting every other day. But maybe that answers AUP's question—there's only one nation under God.

Isn't there a super-god who will let some super-demon rape and torture and murder Yahweh for some unknowable, super-good reason?

One can only dream.

Is it wrong if I wondered what an anime made on this premise would look like?

Evangelion meets the Overfiend... Ick.

Why is there a flag of America flying when they say "God"?

Because jingoistic connections between the majority religion and patriotism tend to work for these slime-balls.

Closest I've ever seen, besides my own warped imaginings is Jesus getting beat up by the Devil in a South Park cartoon. But being tortured, poked at, made fun of, and murdered is already in his lexicon.

Ah, I love the smell of bigotry in the morning. Smells like . . . BS.

As to your OP, can you tell me why you consider what the Westboro loons think matters, at all, to the majority of Americans, religious, non religious, and indifferent? Consider the source before you commence with the rending of garments, eh?

Do you honestly think that the Westboro crowd speaks for all Fundies? For all Christians?

Your title and OP amount to you pulling a "Willie Horton" gambit.

Are you that short of ideas?

If mankind's laws can evict god from certain places, then man is a power higher than god.

So those murders were allowed to happen because of some gay guy walking in a parade with a monkey puppet?
