If your tastes are anything like mine, this art site might be right up your alley.
I've got some of my stuff on there under the name VinegarGin.
Check it out.

My daughter likes this site and often posts her stuff there as well. It's a bit too youth oriented for my middle-aged tastes though.

I visit that site regulary, but post rarely. It's a great resource for cutting edge artists and new techinques and tutorials for those interested in getting into digital art.
I say we should start a "The Amazing Randi" digital art board. Everyone get a picture of Randi and (re)draw their own vision.

I have that one bookmarked, and check it semi-regularly (once a month or so). A lot of really good stuff there.

Definitely some interesting stuff, and we tried to find your postings, VinegarGin, but failed. Do you need to log-in to search for a particular person?
Maybe it's just Mr. Katana and moi, but we didn't really see much that we would call "deviant" (much to our dismay, I might add ;)).

There are separate galleries including some that I'm anxious to see , which showcase the morbid and macabre. :)

Here's a link to my stuff: http://vinegargin.deviantart.com/
I also have my own website at http://www.chthonicdreams.com
As for the level of deviancy, well, I admit, it's quite tame even by my standards.
But occasionally there's some interesting artwork.

Look at those website names!
Is this one of those "be careful what you asked for" moments? Dare I look?

GREAT work, anthon!
I especially liked "Timekeeper," "Girl with Dragon," and "Erica."
From your personal website (which was nicely laid-out), I liked the girl in the uniform releasing the butterflies, the dragon with the rose, the kitten with the small goblin and the nude with the bloody back.
I'm very impressed.
BTW - for anyone who might be interested; there is more art in a similar vein (and quite a bit darker) at
epilogue.net
:)

Nice stuff, Athon!
Do you ever post at or visit conceptart.org? The forums are always busy, with lots of great art from pros and amateurs. (Most of it's geared towards concept work for video games and films, but there's a wide range of techniques and subject matter.)

Thanks folks.
I checked out epilogue.net, and admit there's some fantastic stuff there as well. I'd love to get to that point with using Photoshop that I can do a quick sketch and turn it into a work of art just using the program and my drawing tablet.
What with teaching (and these forums), I rarely have time in my non-holiday period to do much art or visit art forums, unfortunately. But I'll cruise by and have a look at those other ones, Blackwell.

Good work, Athon. Girl with Dragon is really something.
The Apophysis Deviantart community has some really good stuff - fractal art - and that's where I spend most of my time on the site.
Linky. (http://apophysis.deviantart.com/gallery/)
I haven't joined the Apophysis group yet, but one day... when I'm good enough.

I too am impressed with your wite.
I'd love to get to that point with using Photoshop that I can do a quick sketch and turn it into a work of art just using the program and my drawing tablet.
Might I also recommend Illustrator. Vector line art transfers to scaling of your images better for other types of media as well as porting over to an animation program (i.e. Flash).
What with teaching (and these forums), I rarely have time in my non-holiday period to do much art or visit art forums, unfortunately.
My problem as well. I've had my own portfolio site in the works for the past year. So far the only thing I've successfully finished is some of my 3D artworks, some Flash programs, and getting my videos up on YouTube!

Nice work there, Athon! I love 'Nomad'. And 'Dragon and Man' is excellent. Where have I seen 'Girl and Dragon' before? Didn't someone here have it as an avatar? I don't recall it being you.
I adore 'Arrival in Desert'. Just wow!
The poor cute cow eating the lantana! Awwwww. And I really like 'Carp2'. Are those for a children's book? If not, you should do one.
All in all, keep up the good work, Athon!
I uploaded some of my oil paintings etc to deviantart a while ago.

I've also got some others hosted at webshots:

I'd like to get more into digital art. I guess I should spend more time at deviantart. Thanks for that link, Pipirr. I'd also love to see some of your stuff.

That was Teek. She has the original, too. (well, did have. I don't know if she still does).
Another time, another age. :)

I'd love to do one. But, no, they were stickers for Helix Magazine (CSIRO's kid's science mag).I uploaded some of my oil paintings etc to deviantart a while ago.

Thanks so much for sharing athon and others with the sites. Love your work. Didn't realize you were the one that did in the beginning. Have been getting them in email from a mutual friend. lol love it. lmao .
ETA: I've been with the forum less than a week that's why i didn't make the connection.

I love Deviant Art! A friend of mine has been on there for a very long time, and recommended it to me over and over again. After tons of prodding on his part, I finally signed up and put some of my own work on there (mostly short stories, but one painting).
http://thomps1d.deviantart.com
I've had a great time checking out all the other people on there. There's a little more anime/manga style art on there than I normally prefer, but you also find some genuinely good and interesting pieces.

As much as finding that the beautiful and mysterious Katana is married :jaw-dropp (it was expected) disheartening, I can recover enough to agree with the pretty couple to say this web site is a far cry from "Deviant."
I know "deviant." This website truly doesn't qualify (at least if you look around with good intentions enough)

I haven't been there for quite some time but my account still exists.
My gallery. (http://jkl1960.deviantart.com/gallery/)
Mostly photography and not too deviant.
My daughter (http://rahamulous.deviantart.com/gallery/) is also a deviant. I wish she would scan some of her drawings. She has raw, unbridled talent. Most of her stuff is NSFW though.

Thanks, Athon. I'm also pleased with the amount of people who like my work. I always wonder whether it will be well-received considering it's so weird and surreal. I'm also amazed at the quality of art I've found at DA.
There are definitely some talented people there - thanks for turning me on to the site. :)

The problem with Terragen is it hasn't been updated in a few years and I've run into a couple of issues with Vista.
Also, be sure to check out the Mars movie (http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/tg2/tgd_mars_movie.html) done in Terragen 2 (http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/tgd/index.shtml)
