I'm surprised more folks aren't listening to this podcast. It's quite well done, and is much more of a skeptical podcast than anything else. The Search of Extraterrestrial Intelligence only comes up occasionally.

Give it a try!

Perhaps a link to get folks started?

The link under the subforum heading goes to a catalog, but the links seem to be dead.

http://odeo.com/channel/1792/view

Leads to a list and downloadable links for the episodes.

And if someone learns something useful to do with the Drake Equation, let me know!

Ya,

We even had them on our show, WAY back in 2005... :)

I gave it a try, but don't listen to it for two reasons: the silly dumbed-down voicing starts to blow my goat after a while, and it's choc-full of ads which aren't bookmarked so I either have to scrabble around on the ipod for a few minutes or listen to irrelevant junk for half the show.
I'd be willing to pay for a sub to a podcast I liked but I'd never be willing to put up with ads.

The woo are so adorable when they take themselves seriously, eh? It reminds me of when a dog cocks it's head and looks all quizzical.

This is the only post in this entire thread that made any sense to me. ie so far we have a podcast that apparently doesn't speak to SETI much in the SETI thread :boggled: but nobody bothers to say what the hell it IS about. Then someone mentions "the drake equation" but doesn't bother to elaborate, except that they apparently don't buy into it - followed by a couple of childish remarks putting said person down for daring to say they don't buy into it.

The worst part is this is a minute or 2 of my life I'll never get back.

Here some links too-- they are a good podcast--except they have that Bad Astronomer on sometimes (I kid; I kid)

I've listened to a few of these podcasts, and they're pretty interesting and well done. I wish my iPod had a 30 second fast forward button like some Tivo's have. Those nagging, persistent telescope ads drove me nuts and I really can't listen to the that podcast anymore.

PS Yes, I understand the telescope seller is helping to keep the podcast going, but, dang, they're annoying spots, and seemed to pop up everywhere. I'd like to add, the most used button on my TV remote is the mute. I do crosswords when watching TV and television ads (especially if you watch the same channels) are deeply annoying...

The technical term for that move is the "Twinch" as in "Oh, look, the dog is twinching!"

I get that look from my students about once a week...

The new ones have no ads. Not sure the exact date, but my ipod is most very happy.

Is it just me, or does every link off of the http://podcast.seti.org/ page not link anywhere?

Try this:

or this

(sorry for the Twilight Zone experience of that link... but it's kind of apropos, eh?)
