Now they’re investigating the books he read...

I’m terribly disturbed by this. I read Lovecraft too (but not chainsaw horror). I’ve read like 20 Stephen Kings. I would really hate to have the government start profiling people who read horror. And you know nowadays they take library records without your knowledge. (I borrow from libraries)
Anyone else feel strongly about this?

Yes, but that said...what you read as simple imaginative horror, a paranoid schizophrenic might read as the bible...the commands of god.
I think it is valid to examine what he was reading. I DONT think it is valid to use this information to generalize about all those who read it.

I don't see this article as indicating that the cops think his reading Lovecraft is important. The only reason it's even mentioned is because he sold a Lovecraft book with his Ebay account - and his Ebay dealings are pertinent to the police insofar as that's where he got the ammunition he used.

I'm seeing in a heap of news articles that the shooter bought "bullets" or "ammunition" off of eBay. Empty pistol magazines are not ammunition.

What's with this "Update:"? Don't you know it's supposed to be "BREAKING NEWS!!!"?
I'm really starting to hate TV news.

Unloading a prized Book of Trvth on eBay is hardly something one would do, now is it? One keeps them for future reference and nostalgia.

"BREAKING NEWS" is soooo 2006. The correct new phrase is "DEVELOPING STORY"

It's for that reason I'm not convinced he really liked Lovecraft. I believe the article mentions that the book, along with the others he sold, was required reading in one of his English classes. When he was done with it, he got rid of it.

Wait, required reading? Lovecraft? :eye-poppi
I sooooo wish I went to his school now. I would've graduated before all of this anyways.
