Even this one slacker girl I knew in college who had a little drug problem.. well she still ended up graduating Cuma-Sum-Something in Chemistry.
Any time I meet an Asian who didn't go as far as me in life (I did OK for myself.....), all I can think is, "Man. You must have really screwed up!"
Am I right, or am I crazy?

Yes.
Speaking as someone who is married to a 1st generation American citizen of asian ancestry, you're loopy.
They're people like the rest of us. Now, the ones from China whoare here are for the most part the ones who had the sense to RUN LIKE (*&(*& from both the Communists and the KMT. So the Chinese immigrants, at least, have been selected for smarts.
But there are doofuses of all kinds.

I think ethnic stereotyping is another one of those topics that you probably want to stride away from. Perhaps this topic touches a bit on a "social taboo".

Perhaps because, to many, this comes dangerously close to racial stereotyping.
"All Asians are driven to succeed." "All Americans are fat." "All blacks are lazy." "All Hispanics are shiftless." In every case, a wholly inaccurate, and dangerous, generalization. It can presuppose a genetic predisposition. All Asians are not driven to succeed. All Americans are not fat (well,...) All blacks are not lazy. All Hispanics are not shiftless.
Would it be accurate to say that all Texans are reactionary, racist, pig-headed, jealous-because-no-matter-how-big-they-say their-state-is-it's-still-not-as-big-as-Alaska?
That's every bit as inaccurate as saying all Asians are driven to succeed.

You seem to be subscribing to the myth that "success", whatever that is, is attainable by anyone, anywhere. Such is not the case.
