They have a chip and software that's supposedly unhackable for encrypting / sercuring stuff on you computer.
http://www.wave.com/
Has anyone ever used it / have any advice or info on it?0
Would you buy it?
TIA

while we have security conscious people around, heres a purely hypothetical question.
Say Mr. A. in country X wants to burn some data files to CD/DVD and mail to member of family Miss B in country Y (X~=Y). Mr A, based on a past experience, is worried about customs in country Y opening package and, mistakenly of course, presuming that aforementioned data was not legitimately obtained.
Is there some way Mr. A can encrypt/password protect the CD/DVD, (separately emailing the password to Miss B of course), so that in order for customs of country Y to see contents would take large effort on their part?
Note - please do not reply to the thread with instructions about how Mr. A could do it - I imagine the JREF does NOT want such instructions posted here. A simple yes/no answer, (and perhaps a PM/email, hint hint) would be great...

Actually, that's a perfectly legal and proper thing to do. They could both go to http://www.pgpi.org/ and download and install PGP. Miss B could make a keypair for herself. She keeps her private key (which is protected by a passphrase) and EMails the public key to Mr. A. Mr A loads her public key into his keyring and uses PGP to encrypt the data with her public key. Now no one but Miss B can read the disk (unless they somehow steal Miss B's private key and figure out her passphrase). It all depends on how well Miss B guards her private key and how difficult a passphrase she chose.
Privacy is your right. You DO NOT have to explain yourself to anyone nor apologize for taking measures to protect it.

I spent a few minutes searching around the site and I assume you mean the "Trusted PC" product they offer.
The only point I can raise is I could not find mention of the encryption method the system uses. Assuming that I did not overlook it and they are not stating up front what encryption method they employ - then the product is junk.
Would I buy it? Hell no - I have no need for such a product. If I did have such a need I would certainly use an open source solution.
Using closed source encryption is just plain stupid.
Also, I agree 100% with shanek about PGP, especially his last sentence. It's scary to me people feel that asking about encryption is like asking how to break the law.

Ok bpesta, read your link a little deeper.
WAVX appears to be WaveExpress' NASDAQ symbol.
They're pushing their new proprietary hardware/software "solution". Can't say as I see the "problem".
Oh yes I can...they're selling a media content delivery service, TVTonic. Sounds like RealOne's pay service, or any of the other dozen you windows folk are using this month. But to be safe, you know...the world will want to adopt their new standard.
Saw something about "moving commerce securely to the desktop", you control the security of your data not the etailer, ergo the new gee whiz "solution"
I didn't d/l any of the "white papers", but odds are you aren't going to learn about their encryption there.
It's a start-up. Pass.

I know little about hardware software. But, if this interests you, I can link you some info that you could perhaps interpret for me (of course, if this doesn't interest you, never mind!)
Thanks for replying

As I have zero funds for investments, no I'm not interested in the company or their deals. But for your portfolio's sake, I at least won't wish them ill. :D
What's my percentage if I pray for them?
If it's not proprietary info, you could put any links here. There are others with crypto knowledge who might comment for you.
Also, it seems for this to work, they need to become something of a standard. That's quite a "barrier to entry" hurdle.

I'll take Jebus for 7.5%, Alex.
