Got to love those Scots.:)

Can we get a Scots-to-English translation here?

:)

1. Hey, what is this idiot who seems to be on fire doing?

2. For crying out loud, won't you please shut up, right now?

3. Welcome to Glasgow, idiot. (I assume he is headbutting the man, as per Glaswegian stereotype)

Well, that last bit was supposed to be a kick in the crotch, I knew that much from the news story. The rest helps, though!

ANSWER: One doesn't. One simply ENJOYS it and laughs one's ass off in the process. :)

P.S. AMAZING work by those of you who create these strips. Seriously, I am awestruck by some of them, and delighted by the rest of them. Your talents are truly incredible.

Not bad for a first effort, but your timing needs work. There's a button on the lower right of the editing screen that will add or remove panels, so you could get rid of the mostly blank middle panel.

Thanks for the link but I wasn't referring directly to the well known thread. "Teh realistice" is a combination of two words that are still constantly used in a very peurile way by some posters who really need to get a life if they still find it amusing. It's like a Frat party with dull in jokes, the type that features in dull College/Coming of age "comedy" films.

I am well aware that "realistice" is a personal attack on Christophera and that "Teh" is a personal attack on St***ie and that both have now expanded to become a general Ad Hom on the forum.

It's good to see my fan club is still out there! I enjoyed my vacation by the way guys, did you miss me.

You really need to get out more often.

While Christophera did indeed grace us with "realistice," the misspelling "teh" has been around as a device for mockery on the Internet since the beginning of the Internet. Stundie didn't create that. He just isn't smart enough to edit his own posts.

Are you next going to credit us with the invention of knock-knock jokes, too?

Oh, and Billy? An ad hominem is a fallacy used in an argument. It doesn't apply to simple mockery of morons in general. If I were to walk up to you on the street and tell you that you're ugly and your momma dresses you funny, it's not an ad hom. I'm just making fun of you because you really are ugly, and your momma really does dress you funny.

Learn the difference, could you? It's really in your best interests, if you think about it. But I bet you'll never be able to figure out why that might be.....

I really am getting out more often which is probably why, unlike yourself it would appear, I am not even aware that "teh" is a common internet thing. I have never come across it before except on here and on SLC, I'd like to see your evidence that it is commonly used.

I haven't had teh doubts in a long while.

And Billy boy's got such a thin skin, I'm really not surprised he considers "teh" as an insult/ad hom. Despite the fact that it's used by an absolutely huge number of people as a funny bit, he's still not in on the joke. I get the impression he's never been "in on the joke", and so sees all humour as exclusionary and insulting, because that's how it's always been to him. Sad really.

Que his standard, "I have a sense of humour, you just don't see it!" whine that doesn't fool anyone.

Some people, like Fetzer, believe what they say is true because they said it is. That is insane. Some people think their opinions are facts, because they say so. They claim they are the expert and their opinion are facts. I have no idea what school of BS teaches that, I think it is more a character flaw. What do you call that? What do you call it when someone believes his opinions are facts? (it would help if their opinions were based on facts instead of woo too) Has anyone seen anyone who does this? I think a few of the new posters use this type of opinion as facts unknowingly.

I'd go with persecution complex. In the few, generally inconsequential interactions I've had with him, he's already called me on my "hostile tone" and such. He seems to assume everybody's ganging up on him even when it just ain't so. I'd say, if you can't stand to have it pointed out that you're wrong, even in the most minor respect (well, compared to Kirkman anyway!), then be somewhere else.

Yeah, majorly weird.

The stripgenerator site keeps crashing when I try to publish, so I've gone to using screen shots. Since I'm using Konqueror on Linux, the fonts look a little different. When I publish them normally, the stripgenerator site uses its own fonts to create the .png file. Since I'm doing screen shots, you get to see what they look like when I'm editing.

It's a long-winded way of saying that 0=0. The combinations of a and b on both sides of the equation both work out to be the same (ie 0). The apparent paradox is caused by not working this out. Thus step 3 is just arbitrarily to make one side of the equation apparently twice that of the other, so that you can come to the erroneous conclusion that 2=1.

Since a2 = ab
then a2 - ab = 0

that means that 2.a2 - 2.ab = 0
or a2 + a2 - 2.ab = 0

since both a2 + a2 - 2.ab = 0
and a2 - ab = 0

then

a2 + a2 - 2ab = a2 - ab

eta: Doh, should have checked to see if there was another page.

It's a joke. It is a verbatim copy of a "proof" that 2=1. As others mentioned, it works by being incorrect.

Here's an explanation (http://www.math.utoronto.ca/mathnet/falseProofs/first1eq2.html) from one of the sites I cribbed from.

I'm not registered at the Strip-Gen site, so I don't get the snazzy red bow-ties.

You're making enough lately you should register.

So, as an unregistered user, you don't have any reds at all? That sucks.

Of course, if you're a popular user, and get enough votes in the month, you get "Alpha user" status, which lets you use even more colours. But apparently that status is month-by-month, so you have to keep it up to keep it. Bloody elitists :)
