I'm not sure where to post this so forgive me if I'm in the wrong spot. Anyway, post your favortite short essays here.

Two that come to mind are both from Richard Feynman about science.

Cargo Cult Science: (http://wwwcdf.pd.infn.it/~loreti/science.html) I'm sure most of you are familiar with this one which is about scientific rigor.

The Value of Science: (http://epi.is-a-geek.net/thevalueofscience.html) Obvious from the title... The value of science.

Good thread. Here's a letter (http://www.fortunecity.com/emachines/e11/86/dawkins2.html) by Richard Dawkins to his 10 year old daughter about checking how we know stuff and what to believe in(mentioned by me and linked to by dylab in a different thread).

One of my favourite essays of all time: The Doors of Perception (http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/lsd/doors.htm) By Aldous Huxley.
