How do I make my hard drive so that annoying pop ups cant install stuff on my hard drive?

I have tried clearing all offline content under internet explorer, but it doesnt help.

The same damn program keeps installing itself on my hard drive without my permission.

i'm using a pop up blocker but it doesnt block this one.

I'm freakin so sick of this I'm about to trhow my windows software away and switch everything over to UNIX. At least that way I can control who writes to my hard drive.

Try this.

Make sure this checkbox is empty:
Control panel>Internet options>Advanced>Enable Install on demand

What program is it? Some programs that install themselves will leave registry settings and things behind, so even if you think you've deleted the program, you reboot and it reinstalls itself - no internet connection neccessary, because it's already sitting on your hard drive.

Try Ad-aware or Spybot to get rid of it comletely.

My wife's computer got a whole bunch of those. They were mostly theose programs "designed" to keep virus and spyware OFF your computer...

I hate popups...
