Global Warming And The End Times
The massive heat wave that Europe has been suffering has made global warming a hot news topic. I’m an old weather buff, and the reports coming out of Europe are almost unbelievable.
For the first time ever, London has reached the 100F degree mark. The German weather service reported it had registered a new national temperature record in the Bavarian city of Roth, which hit nearly 105F degrees on Saturday. The previous record of 104F was also in Bavaria, set in 1983. On Sunday, the city of Gravesend set a new record for England at 100.6F.
We’ve known about the greenhouse effect for several decades now. The burning of fossil fuels puts carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which blocks heat from escaping the earth.

It seems ironic that for many years conservative Christians called anyone who spoke of Global warming, lunatics, tree huggers etc etc. Now it is a sign of “end times” and God’s love.
the year 1998 was declared the warmest year ever.
Did the world end 14 years ago and we missed it?
In July 1999, a wave of record heat enveloped the eastern third of the U.S.
Did the world end 13 years ago and we missed it?
In August 2003, several new all-time highs were set across Europe. Some records stretched back nearly 200 years.
Did the world end nearly 200 years ago and we missed it?
In August 2003, six days into the month, temperatures soared to 109F degrees at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, surpassing the old record of 108F set in 1952.
Did the world end in 1952 and we missed it? Note I was born in 1958 so would have missed it anyway.
Because the Holy Father knows the beginning from the end, global warming could be a judgment for the world’s sinful ways.
In any family court in this country and most I believe a father that used burning a child to death as a judgment for mistakes would be jailed and seen as anything but a loving father.

Or is it that Christians are willing to take anything and twist it into "evidence" to support their worldview?

Global warming could be a real bitch. Average temperatures have been generally rising during the past decades. If this goes on, it might give us a lot of problems, some of which may make 911 look like a Sunday picnic. However, it will not be the end of the world, not even the end of mankind. Earth's temperature has varied more over time (geological time) than the present worst-case scenarios, but as we can see, it did not lay the planet waste.
So there is no reason for Rapture buffs to rejoice: You and your descendants are going to sit this out with the rest of us :D

according to ice core samples, until the last ice age temperatures varied wildly, even from year to year. the ice age had a moderating effect globally, and it has been theorized that the slightly increasing temperature change that we have been privy to are simply because the moderation caused by the last ice age is beginning to wear off.

Okay, so now heat is a sign from God harolding the End Times. Tornados are a sign from God harolding the End Times. Hurricanes are a sign from God harolding the End Times.
billie, is there a meterological event that doesn't signify the End Times(tm) in your mind?
Maybe they just are what they are and have no significance beyond that?
Besides, I thought you were a Biblical literalist. What Biblical passage predicts heat waves? Or did the authors of the Bible forget that one?

Following Upchurch, Global Warming predicts: more heat in some places, more cooling in others, drought, flood, storminess, more snow, less snow and so on.
In other words, its unfalsifiable as a scientific theory and has more resemblance to the Apocalyptic predictions of billiefan and others.

Wouldn't it be more "burning down an apartment building full of people to punish a child"?
Just a few thousand years ago, the Lord had much better aim. He hit all the Egyptians' houses and missed all the Jewish homes. He hit the walls of Jerico and missed Joshua's sieging army. Now his punishments (tornadoes, hurricanes, global warming) destroy believers and non-believers alike. God needs glasses and won't admit it.

Is it true that conservatives are anti-environmentalism or is it simply a coincidence that every right-wing radio talk show host I listen to can't resist a chance to bash the "global-warming dupes" or the "environmentalist whackos"?

Whereas you are 99.44% pure lies. So there.

Can you prove this please? facts only.
1. List all "Liebrals" ( spelled liberals) by name.
2. List all things Liberals say, every word.
3. List and prove that 99% of what all liberals say is a LIE, not you believe it to be but facts that it is a lie.
REMEMBER list every single liberal by name and address, list everything they have said ever then prove statement by statement that 99% is a lie.
NOW, if you can not do this it is you my friend that is a liar.

James Watt, who became U.S. Secretary of the Interior under Ronald Reagan made it clear that he viewed the earth as "merely a temporary way station on the road to eternal life...The earth was put here by the Lord for His people to subdue and to use for profitable purposes on their way to the hereafter."
Granted a single quote is not necessarily representative of an entire end of the political spectrum, but if you would like I could dig up some other quotes along the lines of: If the second coming is imminent, then we really don't need to consider saving forests for future generations.

The average record high for August in Dallas (all 31 days) is 107F with a max of 115F and a min of 104F. Having lived there for 15 years I can attest to the fact that Dallas gets stinkin hot in the summer. Five years ago it got up to 108F in May. So when it gets statistically insignificanlty hot in August it means the world is gonna end? What a stoopid religion.

This web site seems to be advocating the notion that economic imperative especially as it relates to consumer pricing trumps any mamby-pamby concerns we might have about the industrial impact on global warning. It then goes on to claim that it is "non-partisan" and lists the Heritage Foundation as a member - uummmmmm, yeah sure.
