Now that's a nice and entertaining way to put your qualifications out there rather than just listing them off over a Powerpoint presentation. I have to say this is my favorite political ad since Warren Tolman snatched cigarettes out of a kid's hand back in ...Oh, I think it was 2001-2002 or so.

And I also have to say that it's done its job as well. I am now interested in Bill Richardson's campaign and intend to look up some of his policies and stances.

You might want to read this Reason Magazine article (http://www.reason.com/news/show/120125.html) which has some information about Richardson that gives pause.
In 2003, The Washington Post reported that New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson routinely ordered his driver to whip down public roads at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour. Even after those reports, when a police officer attempted to pull over Richardson's car for speeding in 2005, the governor's driver refused to stop. In the last two years, Richardson's lieutenant governor has also been caught running a red light and parking in a fire zone.
For his part, Richardson refused to apologize for his law-breaking. He said he'd instruct his drivers to slow down, but cited his busy schedule as governor and said he wouldn't promise not to speed again. By April 2006, his car was seen pushing 90 again.

He needs to have a talk with Corzine.

That's the best skeleton they can dig up? A bit of speeding?
No secret tete-a-tetes with underage Cuban houseboys?
No bricks of blow shuttled into the governor's mansion at 3 AM?
No sex dungeon photos leaked to the internet?
Either Richardson is excessively boring, or I weep for modern journalism.
Gone are the Marquis-de-Sade-esque political escapades of yesteryear...

In quite a few states state legislators and executives are allowed to exceed the speed limit on their way to the to/fro the capitol or carrying out state business. Big whoop.

Ah, so he's a fool. Or at least his drivers are. Or he's a bully. Or any combination thereof.
Still, I have to ask, maybe he had a reason? And a police escort at the times he was caught?

I know that political bigwigs driving from the Chicago area to Illinois' state capital, Springfield, zip down I-55 at 90 mph. For us ordinary citizens, it takes about 3 1/2 hours. If you drive down there to see the Lincoln sites, or are on your way to St. Louis, you can spot them streaking by with their custom government license plates.

I have my doubts that he will get the nod from the Party. That said, whomever does would be well advised to consider taking him on as their Veep.

Not sure why that's either/or...
I agree that Richardson's the one I would most want to vote for. But at this point I think he's actively campaigning for the Veep nod in all but name.
(I doubt HRC would choose him. He doesn't add much to her ticket, except possibly the Hispanic vote. But he'd make a great insider-experienced candidate to offset outsider Obama's relative lack of executive experience.)

The veep is basically not a position historically. Don't vote for anyone based on the Veep. Only vote against them based on their veep. Veeping Richardson would be nothing more than a gravitas move like Cheney was to Bush.
Edited to add: Veeping Richardson is like punishment for him being overqualified.

How about his involvement in the Wen Ho Lee affair (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wen_ho_lee). Robert Scheer writes a strong polemic about that (http://www.thenation.com/docprint.mhtml?i=20001023&s=scheer) although Richardson is not mentioned by name in the article.
Former Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson, who had oversight of Los Alamos National Laboratory at the time and effectively ordered Lee's firing, is considered, by some, likely to have been the mysterious source who leaked Lee's name to reporters.

Strangely enough, I don't remember G.W. Bush's driving drunk giving anyone pause. I don't remember G.W. Bush's not being smart enough to avoid saying things like "major league ash hole" in front of an open mike giving anyone pause.

Secretary of State would be better.

I never vote for anybody based on the Veep (except to the miniscule extent that a candidate's choice of Veep might inform me of their decisionmaking abilities)
