As a kid I used to love those books on aliens, ghosts and weird creatures. You know, the ones with grainy images of some out of focus bigfoot, or a semi-decomposed sea creature, or a stitched together chimera.

I still love them. I will flick through those books in search of any freaky looking picture. I relish them as much as I would any science fiction story and wonder 'what if' in the same manner. Not because it is real, but because it stirs that part of me that loves to be amazed or frightened or challenged creatively whenever I see a good fantasy movie or read a well written spec fiction tale.

Now with sites like You-tube, I can feed that part of me anew. I know most can be picked apart easily as fakes or mistaken sightings or examples of pareidolia, but I still love to watch them with the same suspension of disbelief I have when I see a horror movie or one on aliens.

So, do you have any favourites? I was digging through some tonight and came across this 'fallen angel' one:

Please don't respond to tell me how fake it is. I'm not suggesting it's real. I'm just a sucker for any sort of speculative fiction I guess.

I guess my favorite is this classical picture->

I was fascinated by the paranormal when I was about 8-9 years old, and I encountered that picture in a book about ghosts. I'm partly sad that I grew up and no longer consider these things probable. But luckily there are plenty of horror movies out there that can fulfill these bizarre needs. :)

No question about it. This picture of a bizarre evil underworld hobgoblin has to be it:

Makes me shiver with horror every time.

Ooh, that was one of my faves as well. Scared the hell out of me. The best pic's are those which appear normal. Although it did seem odd to have the guy slightly off to one side of the dead middle of the image. If he was the subject, it would be more centred.

Still freaky.

I always liked the "Ancient Astronaut' type photos. Makes me wonder what future societies will think when they find some of our "relics".

Maybe it was just a dead cow going to heaven?

Not sure if this counts, because it is admittedly fiction, but The Thing From Another World scared the [rule8] out of me and absolutely fascinated me when I was a kid. (No, I'm not that old, it was a rerun. :))

I've never seen that trailer before, funny they would call it a scientific story.
