Dear Conspiracy Theorists

To be frank, you lads have been taking a bit of a kicking at JREF and other forums such as BAUT recently. BBC shows pointing out the lack of substance in your theories, together with Judy Woods and her incredible death ray, haven't helped.

So I've decided to help you get your act together; to post arguments that are a notch above the usual, easily debunked rubbish about fire not weakening steel or mysterious explosives you have no evidence for.

In short, it's time you invested some time and energy learning about tall buildings and how they really work.

As good luck would have it for all of you in the UK, there's a conference on this subject just around the corner:

Designing Tall Buildings 2007

Design quality, streetscape and technology
31 May 2007
Church House, London SW1
Designing Tall Buildings 2007 is the only conference specifically designed for architects that addresses the key challenges surrounding the design of tall buildings including commercial viability, structural engineering, sustainability and planning issues. This is your opportunity to question the policy makers and network with architects, engineers, surveyors, planners and developers. Last year's event attracted over 310 delegates so prompt booking is recommended!

Contact:

Tel: 0845 056 8069
Email: constructconferences@emap.com (constructconferences@emap.com)
Online: www.designingtall.co.uk (http://www.designingtall.co.uk)

Commercial viability - you'll be able to refute the sceptic case that Silverstein lost a packet.

Structural engineering - no longer will people be able to confuse you with bending moments, progressive failure, and the like.

Construction - the difficulties in actually building the things, and where to hide the explosives

Go for it; it'll be money well spent boys.

;)

They can't do this. Remember, professionalism = evil! Education = indoctrination!
This would be like joining the enemy!

I bet they can't wait to attend this one :D

But surely it's important that they understand the evil disinformation that is spread about the construction community; know thine enemy, and all that?

I'm probably going. But for different reasons, obviously.

If me and them are there, I can certainly imagine the former.

Pfft. Don't you mean "Designing Disinfo 2007"?

Shill.

Too bad I'll be in Rome when this happens. I would've loved to go there and just see a few UK based twoofers come out and "Just Ask Questions"...

Obvious disinfo and shillery.
Note that the closest tube station to “Church House” is St James’s Park! Also, this is just a few minutes walk from Thames House, and that’s only across the river from Vauxhall Cross. And I think we all know what that means…

The question isn’t how many UK troofers will register for this event. The question is, how many times will P’Doh register for this event….

Dear Conspiracy Theorists

...your theories are crap. QED.

That's what I was expecting from the OP, anyway. ;)

They don't want to be affected by the eveel hypnosis beams that will emanate from the podium. Those can't affect you since you are already indoctrinated into the 'hive'.

What is a "tall" building in the UK? Here in the states, a high-rise is anything with a highest occupied floor 75 feet (23 meters) or more above grade.

Oh, but will there be Kool Aid?

That's a very interesting question.

I don't think there's a definition in either the Scottish or English Building Regulations. I'll have to check. The figure 60m sticks in my mind, but that's 20 stories so that can't be right.....

And we don't have Kool Aid in the UK, whatever the hell it is.

The "Kool Aid" comment is probably a reference to the Jonestown, Guyana incident (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonestown). A Kool-Aid-like drink ("Flavor-aide", actually) was used in a mass poisoning. "Drinking the Kool-Aid" is an American euphemism for being brainwashed (like in a cult).

Our building code differentiates between low-rise and high-rise, with the demarcation being the height I outlined earlier. One of the consequences of the NIST report and subsequent recommendations is that there might soon be a third building category - those with a highest occupied floor 400 feet (122 meters) or more above grade.

The Scottish and ENglish Building Regulations (they're completely seperate btw) start to get quite picky about just 6 stories.

There's a review of the Scottish ones to look at robustness of fire escape measures in taller structures, but since we tend to use concrete stairs and enclosures we're not exactly rushing about worrying about a 9/11 type scenario.

I can't help but notice that our small but nevertheless crowd of CT supports do not appear be rushing to comment or, one assumes, attend. How peculiar.

Darn, £440 is a little much for me.

But if the CTers really care about freedom and truth, £440 is nothing!

Well in reality this conference will surely not teach anyone much more than they already know and likely just clarify certain issues and reveal new research from my understanding. Your point still stands though, 'truthers' are generally unwilling to pay to advance their cause.

Given the extremely poor understanding most CTers have of basic constructional and structural issues, I suspect that they would learn a lot! But either way, they'll never put their money where their mouths are (unless there's a quick buck in it for them). IMHO.
