I wrote a complaint email to the Montel show about Sylvia. Now I'm subscribed to his rotten newsletter, which has blurbs in it about the beast and how she is going to "help" victims on upcoming shows. Oh the irony!

I got two editions of the newsletter. :( Wrote about it here (http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=81725&page=2).

If their newletter was not double-opt in, and is not single-opt out, you can probably take them to task for it.

If you write a complain letter to Montel about Sylvia, they probably infer, probably correctly, that you watch the show, if at least to complain and moan about its contents, and therefore you'd be interested in the newsletter.

Seconded. That would be illegal. E-mail != (not equals) subscribing to a newsletter.

Blah blah.
Subscribing to a newsletter has nothing to do with watching TV or writing e-mails that complain about the program.

Bad business practice. Period. Business etiquette, and in some areas laws, says double-opt in, single opt-out.

I don't think I've ever watched more than a minute or so of his show, which probably makes me a hypocrite. I wrote him to complain about him hosting Sylvia, but I most likely wouldn't watch his show even if he stopped having her on.
I would have more respect for him as a human being, though...

I watch some of the ones with Sylvia, and I have to agree, it's not long before my eyes really hurt.
