I'm trying to find a song that keeps going through my head, but I don't know the words or who sung it. It goes:
Ba-dum-de-dum-de-da-dum-de-dum-dum-de-dah-dah...
Does anyone know what the song is, and preferably who did it? I think it was released in the 70's or 80's.

Could it be Blue by Eiffel 65? It was a mid-80's techno hit.

Wow, that's a tough one.
I just did a web search on "Ba-dum-de-dum-de-da-dum-de-dum-dum-de-dah-dah", and couldn't find a thing...

You do realize, don't you MM, that "ba-dum-de-dah" conveys almost no information at all about how the melody you're thinking of actually sounds? (That is, unless those are actual lyrics, but I'm assuming they're not.) I'm guessing the italicized syllables are accented, but that doesn't mean much without knowing their pitch and duration. I think this is a question much better posed in person than by ASCII.

What you need is the Melodyhound search engine (http://name-this-tune.com/).

If you're me and this is like, eighth grade, then you're thinking of "Centerfold" by J. Geils Band. But it might also be "Emotions in Motion" by, you know, what's his face. That guy who also did "Two Daze Gone" and "Everybody Wants You." Him.

Errgghh. My brother in law bought the CD for my son for his birthday. Ergghhh, he played it a few times, then hasn't played it since.

That's obviously Oh Yeah by Yellow, used in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off".

Perhaps it's the third movement of Halley's 5th?

I've got it, it's.... nevermind, I was thinking of:
Ba-dum-de-dum-de-da-dum-de-dum-dum-de-dah-dah...
not:
Ba-dum-de-dum-de-da-dum-de-dum-dum-de-dah-dah...

Sounds to me like "Head like a hole" by Nine Inch Nails.

Not quite a fair puzzle since it's after Joel left, and therefore not really MST3K any more, but it's Danger Death Ray, one of my favorite post-Joel episodes. That's actually what is being sung in the theme.
Dammit American, how can I dislike you if you're an MST3K fan?
