UFOs vs. UAVs: How to Tell Friend from Faux (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=96&ncid=753&e=10&u=/space/20030814/sc_space/ufosvsuavshowtotellfriendfromfaux)

In the coming years, the skies are going to be increasingly dotted with all types of uncanny aircraft. But interstellar travelers won't be piloting these vehicles.

What is likely to be zipping across your airspace are identified flying objects of the terrestrial kind. They are better known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and these robotic policing craft are loaded with high-tech sensors and other snooping gear.
...
As the buzz increases about UAVs, separating Earth-built craft from reports of incoming UFOs is getting tougher. There are already cases of mistaken identity. UAVs or classified test craft -- such as the mysterious "black triangle" -- have been branded as surely extraterrestrial in nature.
Seems to me if they pondered the actual meaning of UFO the question might clear up. If it's an object, and it's flying, and you can't identify it, then it's a UFO. As for extrraterrestrials, how about some evidence?

Hi Arcticpenguin. After 31 "looks", you deserve at least ONE response...you poor thing.

I can't understand with these so-called thousands of sightings, which even have abductions being claimed, that not ONCE has there been a case where an xtra-terretrial UFO landed where the little gray men get out to talk to someone...try to locate our government officials, etc.

IF they have the technology to get to our solar system from some other star/galaxy, for which the closest is (I guess) 5 light years (30 trillion miles away) that they have technology in advance of us. And if they have been observant of us, through their visits with earth, you would think that they could have concluded that their ion gas-beam guns could evaporatre any hostile eartrhlings if need be, and therefore would have taken the risk to land and leave their space ship to try to communmicate with us. Or, perhaps their technology would allow them to print communication of some sort in the sky, for us to observe.

The hang-up that keeps the extraterrestrials from overt attempts at communicating with Earthlings is that they don't have wheat or other cereals on Zeta Reticuli.

It's kind of like growing up in a place where it never snows, and then going to someplace where it does.

The alien kids get so completely enthralled with stomping out designs in wheatfields (their equivalent of making snow angels) that by the time their parents get them back inside, it's time to go home.

They don't even get time to shop for souvenirs.

That's what we get for being a family resort.

Thanks for the sentiment, but after ~ 7400 posts I won't sink on the success or failure of one thread.

Actually they have time, but there are limited shopping opportunities. I myself plan to open up a souvenir shop soon selling T-shirts with three sleeves that say "My brother made a crop circle and all I got was this lousy T-shirt"
